The Brecon Beacons National Park (Welsh: Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog) is one of three national parks in Wales, and is centred on the Brecon Beacons range of hills in southern Wales. It includes the Black Mountain (Welsh: Y Mynydd Du) in the west, Fforest Fawr (Great Forest) and the Brecon Beacons in the centre and the Black Mountains (Welsh: Y Mynyddoedd Duon) in the east.
The Brecon Beacons National Park attracts many visitors due to the range and quality of outdoor activities the park offers. These include hill walking, climbing, gorge-walking, caving, horse-riding and mountain biking.

This incredible hike up Pen y Fan in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park is one of my favourite things to do in Wales. Дорога длинная и со стороны кажется что очень легкая, но когда мы поднимались (мы спешили, т.к быстро темнело), то было не так легко как казалось, однозначно можно забраться на гору без каких-либо физических подготовок.

Pen Y Fan / Brecon Beacons National Park TRIP 2015
Pen y Fan /pɛn.ə.ˈvæn/ is the highest peak in South Wales, situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park. At 886 metres (2,907 ft) above sea-level, it is also the highest British peak south of Cadair Idris in Snowdonia. The twin summits of Pen y Fan and Corn Du were formerly referred to as Cadair Arthur or 'Arthur's Seat'.[1]
The summit lies on a ridge stretching from Talybont Reservoir in the east, to the A470. About 0.5 km (0.31 mi) to the south-west lies the subsidiary top of Corn Du, beyond which the terrain drops at a moderate angle to the subsidiary top of Y Gyrn then more steeply to the Storey Arms on the A470. To the east, the ridge drops steeply to the col connecting it to Cribyn, the next mountain along the ridge. From Corn Du, a gentle ridge descends south towards Merthyr Tydfil.
The mountain and surrounding area are owned by the National Trust whose work parties attempt to combat the erosion caused by the passage of thousands of feet up and down this most popular of South Wales' peaks. The mountain is used by the military as part of the selection process of the UK's Special Forces personnel. Three soldiers who died after collapsing in the field in July 2013 were believed to have been climbing the mountain (see Fan Dance) while undergoing Special Air Service selection

Climbing Pen y Fan - Brecon Beacons | Wales 2016
Today we climb Pen y Fan - the highest peak in South Wales at 886 metres above sea level. I personally underestimated how much of a challenge it would be being my first hike but it was so worth the effort for the 360° views at the peak. Even though there wasn't much snow on our climb, it was bitterly cold and two days later the peak had a good covering of snow so please check weather conditions before climbing.

Pen y Fan & Fan y Big, Brecon Beacons - 18 June 2013
Starting from the car park at Blaen-y-glyn (Map OL12 Grid Ref: 056 176). From here the route heads north along the Brecon Way then leaves it to continue north along the ridge of Graig Fan Las. At the junction of Bwlch y Ddwyallt the route turns south west and follows the ridge twisting and turning eventually north towards Fan y Big. From here after a picture on the Diving Board the route continues along the ridge to Cribyn and then Pen y Fan. From the highest point on the Brecon Beacons the route turns towards Corn Du and then south back along the ridge of Craig Gwaun Taf until descending towards the dam of the Lower Neuadd Reservoir and then returning to the start via the waterfall at Twyn Pica.
