Kayak Cornwall: Newlyn to Penberth Cove

I have paddled from Newlyn to Lamorna Cove on many occasions, but this time we decided to go a bit further to Penberth Cove, this was to be a great decision as the Lamorna to Penberth bit is a wonderful stretch of coastline with some amazing rock and cliff formations. We were lucky to have done our trip at low tide which is fast becoming my favorite condition for coastal exploration.

Little in the way of wind and waves and just a small amount of swell. The sheer beauty of the coast, particularly further west makes up for any loss of excitement that rougher sea conditions can give.

This was taken from our RIB whilst diving Logan's Gully (South Cornwall). Expert flying and winching as the winchman is landed on top of Logan's Rock, abseils, and then flys over ourt boat!

Pedn Vounder Beach

Pedn Vounder Beach is an absolutely stunning and beautiful beach located along the cliffs between Porthcurno and Penberth Cove.
The beach has been made famous by social media over the last few years, however still remains very quiet due to its inaccessibility as it is a bit of a walk from the nearest car park and a climb down rocks is needed to get down on to the sand.
Sometimes also spelt as Pednvounder, this beach lies below the famous Logan Rock and at low spring tide, Pedn Vounder Beach can be walked to from its more visited neighbour, Porthcurno.
Pedn Vounder has been used in both the recent TV series of Poldark and the 1970's TV series of Poldark. It was used most notably in a scene when Ross and Demelza walk along the beach together, towards Logan Rock.

Treryn Dinas

Treryn Dinas is an iron age cliff castle on Treen Cliff between Porthcurno and Penberth Cove in West Cornwall. There is barely anything left of this ancient fort but the views from where it was are amazing. Treryn Dinas is best known for the Logan Rock, a massive rocky outcrop which comes out in to the sea. It's by far the best known rock outcrop in Cornwall and possibly even in Britain.

Logan Rock to Lamorna Cove - Coastal Hike Cornwall

Walking the South West Coast Path in Cornwall from Logan Rock through Penberth, past Boscawen Point, Tater-du and then on to Lamorna Cove.

Whist on this hike we had the privilege of seeing the Ultra Runners taking part in the 44 mile 2015 Classic Quarter Endurancelife Trail Run from the Lizard to Lands End.

Some of the runners appear in this video which also shows the type of extreme terrain they were running along.
