Algarrobo is a coastal resort town in central Chile. It’s known for beaches like El Canelillo, backed by pine forest. Just north of El Canelillo is Islote Pájaros Niños, a small rocky promontory inhabited by migratory Humboldt penguins. Northwest of El Canelillo is Islote Peñablanca y Punta de Peñablanca, a granite outcrop home to seabirds. Iglesia La Candelaria is a 19th-century church in the town center.

Naturalists in Chile are reporting a significant increase in
penguin numbers. They say it's thanks particularly to the work
of ecological organisations which have pressured national
authorities to establish better controls against hunters and
poachers and produced higher environmental awareness amongst
tourists. A less agreeable factor is thought to be the greater
availability of food like krill resulting from the severe
reduction in whale numbers caused by commercial whaling.

La Caleta Punta Choros is a cache of artisanal fishermen in northern region of Coquimbo, Chile. The cove, near the island of which his name appears, consists mostly of fishermen, has restaurants and guided visits to the islands Damas, Choros and Punta Gaviota. Administratively, the creek belongs to the municipality of La Higuera and belongs to the Harbor of Coquimbo.1 According to government estimates, there is a fixed 318 guests in 131 men and 187 women population. The main attraction of the cove is based on the presence of species biodiversity in neighboring islands to the town, which has attracted interest for tourists, generating financial resources from tourism in the area. In the government of President Sebastián Piñera rejected the construction of a thermal power station 20 km away from the island Punta Choros, after several meetings of the regional authorities and the subsequent popular and famous environmental protest groups that prevented the construction of the plant energy.
