Pennard Castle & Three Cliffs Bay, Gower, Wales
The mysterious ruin of Pennard Castle stands overlooking Three Cliffs Bay on the Gower Peninsula in South Wales, U.K.
I hadn't been there for a few years, but a friend was visiting, so took them out there for a walk, although the weather was a bit overcast, and it later began drizzling.
Handheld, so a bit shaky.
Filmed on March 19th, 2019.

Places to see in ( Swansea - UK ) Three Cliffs Bay
Three Cliffs Bay , otherwise Three Cliff Bay, is a bay on the south coast of the Gower Peninsula in the City and County of Swansea, Wales. The bay takes its name from the three sea cliffs that jut out into the bay. Pennard Pill, a large stream, flows into the sea in the middle of the bay. The beach is an important asset for locals and visitors and routinely qualifies for Blue Flag status. Dogs are allowed on the beach all year.
Inland about 500 yards from the main beach on high ground above Pennard Pill is Pennard Castle. It was built in the early 12th century , and is imbued with legends of fairies. It is also the only locality in Britain for yellow whitlow grass
Individual beaches that make up this bay have their own names, including Pobbles Bay to the east of the Three Cliffs, and Tor Bay to the west. The beaches are separated at high tide but are accessible to each other at low tide on foot over the sands. Paths lead north to Pennard Burrows, east to Pobbles, and west to Tor Bay. Pobbles and Tor Bay are also accessible from the beach at low tide. Three Cliffs Bay is effectively part of the inlet of Oxwich Bay. At low tide, Three Cliffs Bay forms a continuous sandy beach with Oxwich Bay beach to the west. They only exist as separate beaches at high tide.
n June 2006 the BBC Holidays at Home programme declared Three Cliffs Bay to be Britain's best beach. In a recent programme broadcast in the UK the view over Three Cliffs Bay was nominated for Britain's Best View. Three Cliffs Bay also appears in a music video entry for Red Hot Chili Peppers made by Swansea film company, Studio8. It was also used in the opening titles of the 80's TV sitcom Me and My Girl featuring Richard O'Sullivan and Joanne Ridley.

Old Beaupre Castle
Old Beaupre Castle
South Wales, Great Britain
Built in the gentle valley of the river Thaw, Old Beaupre was a heavily fortified medieval house rather than a castle. It was extensively rebuilt during Tudor times.
Although left to ruin for some time, its internal storeyed porch is an impressive feature. It is a classical three tier greek ornamemted design incorporating the bassett coat of arms with detailed frieze and cornicing.
It remains well preserved and still remains an impressive sight to any visitors.
Old Beaupre is now under the conservation care of CADW
tretower castle
Tretower (Welsh: Gastell Tretŵr[1]) was founded as a motte and bailey castle. In the 12th century, a shell-keep was added to the motte. By c.1230 a tall cylindrical keep was added to the inside of the shell-keep and the space between was roofed over. At this time the earlier bailey was walled in stone and provided with cylindrical corner towers. In the early 14th century residential buildings were constructed away from the original fortifications forming today's Tretower Court. Over time the lords of Tretower favoured the more luxurious Court and the castle fell into disuse.
Description of the castle[edit]
Tretower Castle - From a survey in the beginning of the 6th century
The castle is roughly triangular in plan, with the motte and keep assemblage occupying the western corner. The 12th century shell-keep is an irregular enclosure with a gate-tower on the line of approach from the bailey. In the centre of the shell stands the tall cylindrical 13th century keep. The keep is of three stories, with an original entrance at first floor level, above a strong, slanted batter or talus. The top of the talus is marked by a decorative string-course of stone. The keep is a rare example of a cylindrical keep in the British Isles. Interestingly the surrounding region has a number of examples of this type, for example at Skenfrith, Bronllys and Pembroke. The Tretower keep and the others share similarities with contemporary French models such as Dourdan.
