Today, Oregon boasts nearly 500 wineries around the state contributing more than $1.5 billion to our state's economy. What's next for this delicious industry? Our panelists will discuss the next step for the industry: becoming an international wine and culinary destination.
Oregon Fine Wine
Oregon is home to a large variety of fine wine. There are hundreds of vineyards and wineries across the state, and the number has been growing since the 1980's. Sales are in excess of 1,500,000 cases per year, over each of the last 5 years. Many consider Oregon to produce some of the finest wines in the United States. Oregon is home to a significant number of independent vineyards. Compared to California wineries, the average winery in Oregon is much smaller, and the majority of the wineries operate their own vineyards. The largest concentration of fine wine in the Willamette Valley is found in Yamhill County, and many of the wineries find their home in Newberg or Dundee.
