Grand Lake History
In the late 1930s, FDRs whistle-stop tour paused long enough in Vinita to introduce President Roosevelt to the majestic Grand River, which soon-after brought about the construction of Pensacola Damand by the end of the summer of 1940, Grand Lake O the Cherokees was born.
With its 46,500 surface acres of water, 1,300 miles of shoreline, and numerous marinas, located smack-dab in the middle of Oklahomas Green Country, Grand Lake is the grande dame of Oklahoma lakes.
I FOUND A LAKE!!
I found a lake I had never seen before near Strang, Ok. After some research at home, turns out the lake has been there awhile LOL and it's ALOT bigger than I thought!! Grand River Dam Authority has jurisdiction of this area. I thought it was cool and I'll be going back. Very beautiful too!!
