Description Of Ride: Manufactured by Whittaker Bros., this ride was released in August 1970. It was specifically aimed at showmen who had given up their travelling days and turned their attention to the more static amusement arcade business.
Eric Whittaker originally got the idea from Albert Mason Snr. of Mason's Automatics (main distributors for Whittaker Bros. at the time) who wanted one built along the lines of his old steam engine. Les Quaintance brought the idea to life by designing this beautiful replica. It had a diagonal rocking movement, and a push button steam whistle.
The ride could be personalised with the name of an amusement arcade/owner on the top of the engine and the name of the vehicle itself on the side.
The very first one went to the Mason's Olympia Amusement Arcade in Cleveleys (of course) and is still there to this day. -Skylark24.

Description Of Ride: This beautiful horse ride was made by Edwin Hall & Co. of Streatham from 1960 to the early 1970s. Its design was simplified over the years; the earliest versions had real leather tack decorated with stunning gems while later versions had fibreglass saddles and a metal rail for reins. The tail was also altered over the years, with some horses made with tails that hung down between their back legs and others having their tails flying out behind them. I would imagine that this particular model dates from the early 60s due to the mix of fibreglass saddle, ornate saddle blanket and real reins. This one also has a real tail which I've never seen on one of these horses before. Maybe the original fibreglass tail broke off and someone replaced it with horse hair at a later date?
This particular horse has been at Pensarn Pleasure Beach for many years, probably since new. According to a man who worked there, she has been lovingly known as Tina for as long as anyone can remember. She was restored by Northern Leisure Kiddy Rides a couple of years ago. -Skylark24.
