Hi Philippine Travelers! We're here at People's Park, Davao City's favorite free attraction located at the heart of the city.

This used to be called PTA grounds where a lot of sports meets were held. But City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte decided to convert this into a beautiful manicured garden for everyone to visit during weekends and weekdays as well.

People's Park is already 7 years old. It was opened in 2008 and then it was as beautiful as this although the trees have grown a lot over the years. It's more shady now.

This is actually a favorite spot for Dabawenyos, not just us Dabawenyos but also tourists and other visitors from different parts of the country.

Selling of food is not allowed inside the park but a lot of us bring food in and have a picnic inside the park. There are a lot of food concessions outside: there are food trucks parked outside as well as tiny stores called sari-sari where we can buy small snacks to consume inside the park.

There is no entrance fee for the park. It's free, it's very clean as you can see and there are a lot of attractions. There is a jogging path that used to be the oval so it's an Olympic-sized jogging track, if there is a thing like that.

There are a lot of trees, there entire place is shady. It's a perfect place for picnics and for hanging out, people-watching and just killing time. If you have time to spare or time to kill and you're in downtown Davao City, People's Park is a good place to hang out in because there is a much-needed shade. And you won't need to spend a lot of money.

If I were to rate this spot, I would give it 4. It is very clean and well-maintained even if it's free. And it's a lot of fun to be here. The only downside is that since it's for free, there are a lot of street kids loitering around. And I don't think it's safe for everybody to be loitering around especially the little ones.

Welcome to People’s Park . .

One of the 1st things a tourist will notice in this city is that the traffic is controlled and better regulated than some of the other cities in the Philippines. But as the city grows and businesses flourish, traffic is right behind.

In order to combat negative effects of growth (i.e. traffic) the local government invested P72 million to create the People’s Park of Davao (2007). It is a 4-hectare cultural-theme park in the city’s center, and although it wouldn’t be right to compare this park to famous ones found in Europe and Canada, it is a landmark in Davao City.

It is also a secure location since there is a guarded perimeter fence, and it is cleaned and maintained by government caretakers.

People’s Park Davao City, Philippine’s

People’s Park is a cultural theme park created in 2007, which is the brainchild of them Mayor Rodrigo Duterte if Davao City. The name People’s Park was coined by Romeo Sardon, a retired electrician, who wom the “Name the Park” contest.

The 4-hectare park is adorned with large sculptures representing what Davao is known for. It is an open plaza with landscaped greenery which is called “Philippine Rainforest” you enjoy a family picnic at the grounds. There are also benches where you can sit to have a relaxing time inside the park.

Welcome to people's park at Davao City

It has been described as one of the cleanest and greenest public parks in the Philippines. The athletic oval of the old PTA Grounds was converted into a bricked walkway dubbed as The Promenade. At the center of the walkway is a dancing fountain which is said to be the first in Mindanao and a footbridge.
