Making of the Comedy Carpet in Blackpool
Last month, Blackpool's newest piece of public art - the Comedy Carpet - was launched by Ken Dodd.
The carpet was four years in the making, from the design stage through to the granite carving and laying of the final slabs.
This video briefly charts the timeline of the carpet, as well as including exclusive footage of the first slab being laid, as watched by Young Ones comedian Rik Mayall.

Gordon Banks
Gordon Banks, OBE (born 30 December 1937) is a former England international football goalkeeper. He made 628 appearances during a 15 year career in the Football League, and won 73 caps for his country. The IFFHS named Banks the second best goalkeeper of the 20th century – after Lev Yashin (1st) and ahead of Dino Zoff (3rd). He was named FWA Footballer of the Year in 1972, and was named FIFA Goalkeeper of the Year on six occasions.
He joined Chesterfield in March 1953, and played for the youth team in the 1956 FA Youth Cup final. He made his first team debut in November 1958, and was sold to Leicester City for £7,000 in July 1959. He played in four cup finals for the club, as they were beaten in the 1961 and 1963 FA Cup finals, before winning the League Cup in 1964 and finishing as finalists in 1965. During this time he established himself as England's number one goalkeeper, and played every game of the nation's 1966 World Cup victory. Despite this success, he was dropped by Leicester and sold on to Stoke City for £50,000 in April 1967. He made one of the game's great saves to prevent a Pelé goal in the 1970 World Cup, but was absent due to illness as England were beaten by West Germany at the quarter-final stage.

Watch The Annual Conch Republic Bed Race
KEY WEST, Fla. — It’s described as “the most fun you can have in bed with your clothes on,” and 8 teams had plenty of fun Saturday afternoon, when the Conch Republic Bed Race took place in Key West.
A highlight of the island’s Conch Republic Independence Celebration, the race starred “strange bedfellows” propelling decorated beds on wheels up the island’s famed Duval Street.
Entrants were pitted against each other to pilot their beds as fast as possible to the finish line. Each team consisted of four runners piloting the bed, with a fifth member riding it.
Beds were decorated as everything from a “hangover” ambulance with a blaring siren to a cart pushed by “zombies” that spoofed television’s “The Walking Dead.”
One bed, inspired by the “Ghostbuster” film series, was propelled by four “paranormal investigators” and carried a slimy green “ghost” — with the original film’s “Stay Puft Marshmallow Man” pursuing it.
Presented by Key West’s Bourbon St. Pub Complex, the quirky race is a fundraiser for the Florida Keys’ AIDS Help organization and is now in its 33rd year.
The 10-day Conch Republic Independence Celebration commemorates the Florida Keys’ symbolic 1982 “secession” from the United States, following the installation of a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint at the head of the island chain. Festivities conclude Sunday.
