The desert oasis of Huacachina has served as the site of one of the most popular adventure tours in South America: the dune buggy and sandboarding tour.
This is just like snowboarding, but instead of snow, you will be boarding on the fine-grained sand of the desert. If you aren’t athletically talented, no problem! Just lay on your stomach on the board, and go “sand sledding.” This is faster, lots of fun, and doesn’t require any patience or ability.

In this travel video you I head to Haucachina to have an amazing Huacachina Sandboarding Adventure in the Desert Oasis of Huacachina.
The Haucachina desert oasis is in Ica Peru. Ica Peru sandboarding at Huacachina desert oasis is starting to gain some fame but it's still not overpopulated. You explore the Haucachina desert oasis in a dune buggy and then hope on a sand dune with a sandboard.
If you like a good sand dune or multiple sand dunes then Haucachina Ica Peru is for you. Every Peru travel guide should feature this sand boarding mecca of South America. You should truly explore Huacachina and this desert oasis.
And if you love a good dune buggy for exploring sand dunes this is one of the things to do in Peru that you should be doing! So grab your sandboard and go explore this desert oasis called Huacachina!

I passed through Ica, Peru for a few nights to check out the Oasis of Huacachina and to ride sandboards and buggys through the desert. Here is a short video of my sandboarding experience on the sand dunes of Huacachina, Peru.
If you notice, the snowboarding approach didn't work very well because the sandboards were very sticky, the straps unstrapped easily and the sand was very hot.
When sandboarding in Huacachina, I would recommend renting a good board if you want to actually try to stand and surf down the dunes, and also, go early in the day or just before sunset when then sand is cooler.
Definitely add Sandboarding and Buggy Rides at the Huacachina Oasis outside Ica, Peru to your Travel Peru bucket list. Much more exciting than the Nasca Lines.

SANDBOARDING WIPEOUT!!! | Huacachina Sandboarding & Dune Buggy Tour | Huacachina Peru
Today we did a Huacachina Sandboarding and Dune Buggy tour in the famous Huacachina Sand dunes!
Neither one of us had ever been on a dune buggy before - let alone sandboarded down a really tall sand dune - but here we were, giving it a try. What a day. Sandboarding in Huacachina, Peru is something you really should do when you're there. And the Huacachina sunset is to die for!
We booked our Huacachina dune buggy and sandboarding adventure on the Peru Hop web site and away we went - careening through the sand dunes at light speed (well, maybe slightly slower). They even let us attach the GoPro to the side of the buggy so we could get better video. Hopefully, it shows!
Dune buggies are a ton of fun. Do a tour if you ever get the chance. Sand boarding is also fun - but a bit more scary Plus, every bump you hit, no matter how small, rattles your brain.
But do it at least once. A bit of brain shake never hurt anyone, right?

Huacachina Desert Oasis in Peru has amazing sand dunes around. When traveling to Peru you should stop there for awesome experience in driving in a buggy car in dunes and sand boarding. This is one of the best things to do on your trip to Peru. Tourism in Peru is well developed with lots of interesting options for fun, amazing nature, excellent Peruvian food and wonderful Peruvian people. We had very diverse group of travelers from many different countries. Our hostel arranged this drive and after that many of us met in the bar to talk about our travel experiences in Peru with a few pisco sours.
