Market theatre. Petach Tiqwa
In recent years, most major markets in Israel have been going through a process of Europeanization—more cleanliness, better buildings/stalls, more carefully selected produce—in exchange for higher prices.
Of the major food markets in Israel, the Petah Tikva Market (Shuk Petah Tikva) is one of the last that have stayed in the past. It is a Middle Eastern market for all intents and purposes, full of any and all fruits, vegetables, fresh fish, spices, etc. On the adjacent streets there are also cheap stores, ready food stores (catering), etc.
This is probably the only place worth visiting in Petah Tikva for a foreign tourist. It is a taste of the Middle East as it used to be, or of a real Arab market if you like (although it's not strictly Arab). If you have some spare time, this will be an interesting experience. The market is always crowded, and it's also a good chance to see the poorer but more colorful Israel.

Petah Tikva: Concerto of a town center 1989

Petah Tikva is a municipality in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area. Back in 1989 its population was 130,000 people and most of them lived in a compact city center. This video showcases street scenes from the city center, prior to the era of big shopping malls and new neighborhoods that killed the urban heart of the city.
