Jeff Leatham Live Floristry Display
Thought that a florist’s life was quaint and serene? Well, this certainly isn’t the case for Sir Jeff Leatham! The Parisian-based “florist to the stars” injected a whole lot of attitude in to the art of flower arranging when he came to visit Peter’s of Kensington on the 11th of August, and was flanked by his very own spectacular Fleurology vases, designed especially for Waterford Crystal. And, naturally, a few glasses of French champagne…
Have a look at the magic that was conjured up in our Kensington store, and be prepared to swoon over Jeff’s creations. If you fancy the vases that he used in his displays, you can find them here:
Thank you to Jeff and the team at Waterford for what has proved to be one of our most exciting events to date!
Driving in Sydney September 2018 - St Peters to Newtown
Newtown is a diverse, bohemian neighbourhood that bustles with activity day and night. Shoppers head to King Street’s indie bookshops and thrift stores. Hip bars and eateries with multicultural fare cater to locals and University of Sydney students. The Enmore Theatre hosts comedy revues and live music. Restored Victorian buildings and street art, including a mural of Martin Luther King, round out the scene.
St Peters was named by its association with St Peters Anglican Church, which was consecrated in 1838. St Peters is the third oldest Anglican church in Sydney and has been claimed to be the first church built in Australia using non-convict labour. The church is on the Princes Highway. It was designed by Thomas Bird and built in 1838-39. In 1875, alterations were carried out under the supervision of Edmund Blacket. The church is now listed on the Register of the National Estate.[4] The graveyard is the burial place of a few notable people, including solicitor and merchant Frederick Wright Unwin, who had Unwin Road and Unwin's Bridge named after him.[5] It is also the burial place of people who committed suicide, patients of the Bayview Mental Asylum at Tempe, and victims of unsolved murders. Graveyard history tours are conducted monthly.[6]
In 2009, the church was given a grant of $30,000 from the state government for carrying out much-needed renovations. The grant was aimed at repairing cracked walls and sealing windows. Pastor Shane Rogerson said the building was ill-fated from the beginning because it was built on clay-based soil, which meant it will always have problems with cracking.

Take one of the country’s most prestigious pastry chefs, and add a dash of sugary eccentricity from an iconic Sydney baker. Finally, shake to combine and toss them in to a big pink building…and you get Anna Polyviou and Katherine Sabbath’s Carrot Cake Party, hosted by Peter’s of Kensington!
Anna and Katherine certainly lived up to their lively reputations when they came to visit us on the 24th of June: there was champagne, old-school hip hop, and of course Anna’s incredible award-winning Carrot Cake (which, by the way, is as amazing as you’d expect). Take a look at what Anna and the crew whipped up in our Demonstration Kitchen, but we ought to warn you: you’ll be craving something sweet by the end of this show…
As always, we want to say a big thanks to Anna, Katherine and their team – everyone had an absolute blast on the day!

Matt Moran + Scanpan
Calling all foodies! We were fortunate enough to have Australian celebrity chef, Matt Moran, flaunt his cooking prowess in our demonstration kitchen on Saturday the 5th of March, 2016. Teaming up with Denmark’s Scanpan, he celebrated Scanpan’s 60th anniversary by making his signature Moran Family Lamb Shoulder with eggplant caviar, garden tomatoes and mint, as well as Crab Linguine with peas and chilli – all using Scanpan CTX cookware, of course. Have a look what he got up to in that time, and if you’re keen to recreate these dishes, you can always purchase Scanpan CTX cookware here.
Turkish Meze Session with Somer Sivrioglu

Somer visited our Demonstration Kitchen on Saturday the 8th of August – have a look at what he got up to in that time, and if you’re up for recreating these dishes for yourself, you can always purchase Somer’s book “Anatolia” here:
