Tangier Zoco Chico, Tanger Petit Socco
This video is filmed from the Gran cafe central's terrace, a place where, during the 19th century, you had to be seen in Tangier. Indeed the neighborhood of the petit socco (or Zoco Chico) was the theatre of a very intense mundane life in those times. Nowadays you can attend to the passage of tourists following their guide for the time of their cruise stop or to the race of the hurried inhabitants of Tangier who sometimes are assisted by a motorized tricycle for the transport of various loads.

In Tangiers, the Grand Socco is a place which stands at the very junction of the modern city and of the historical medina. Just outside the walls in front of the doors entering in the old neighborhoods of Tangiers this place has reunited during the past centuries the people from the countryside whose various products have supplied the goods that responded to the basic needs of the citizens of the Casbah. Thus various products were gathered here: donkeys, fruits vegetables at those times. Now as you can see cars and motorbikes have taken their toll, modern life!
