PETRA + WADI RUM [JORDAN] - Desert Adventure!
The most iconic locations in Jordan! Petra and Wadi Rum desert. Indiana Jones and Lawrence of Arabia - that's the vibes on this part of our Jordan trip. Like and subscribe if you enjoy the video!
After finishing canyoning in Wadi Mujib we drove down to Petra and spent a full on day hiking through the mysterious Rose City, one of the wonders of the world. Recently rediscovered a couple of hundred years ago, the city itself is dated back to around the time of Christ.
Starting at the Siq we walked back in time through the trails past the grand monuments of Petra - the Treasury, the Monastery, the Tombs and finally up the hidden trail to view the Treasury from above. We returned at night to experience Petra by Night, where the Treasury is illuminated by candlelight.
The next day we drove to Wadi Rum to witness the desert wilderness of Jordan, we rode camels and explored landmarks strewn through the desert. Enjoying the Bedouin hospitality we camped the night beneath the stars.

This was our first full day in Jordan. We rented a car, opened our google maps app and just started driving south towards Wadi Musa which was our base for the night to visit one of the seven wonders of the world - Petra!
This is the first part of our visit to the ancient city built by the Nabateans. We visited Petra at night, walked into the canyon in pitch darkness with the path lit only by candles! It was absolutely magical and a bit unnerving! We also did it with like 500 other people, it felt more like a pilgrimage to Petra!

ABOUT US
We have been traveling together for the last 10 years. It all started when we applied to the Amazing Race show and they called us for an interview. We interviewed but didn’t make the final cut because we didn’t have enough ‘drama’ in our relationship. But that didn’t stop us from doing our OWN amazing race of traveling the world but at our own pace! We have just hit our 50th country and thought it would be fun to document our journey!
We are looking forward to hitting all 215 countries. Subscribe to our channel and join us on the adventure!!
Petra, Jordan - Petra by Night, by Day and by Donkey
My adventures in Jordan continued with a visit to Petra, one of the seven wonders of the world. Petra is absolutely mind-blowing. It really is a top destination, and one everyone should visit. We started our visit to Petra by heading out on a guided tour around the biggest tourist attraction in Jordan. We stopped at the treasury which is the highlight of Petra for most and the scene of the classic images. Some famous films have also been filmed here such as Indiana Jones. From there, we hiked up to the Monastery which is actually my favourite spot in Petra. Later that night, we took in Petra by night and did some photography of the amazing stars over the treasury.
On our second day in Petra we actually went donkey trekking to Haroun;s (Aaron) Tomb which was a true adventure. There's nothing quite like visiting Petra by donkey.
Anyways, the adventures here in Jordan continue so stay tuned and subscribed for the next one.

Amman to Petra || Petra Walk Through || Wadi Musa
I wanted to explore PETRA by myself, so I began my journey from Amman, the capital city of Jordan to this ancient intriguing and once flourishing rocky red city. A bus ride from the capital is all it takes to reach Petra in only 4 hours.
I had never imagined the Middle East like this; I was always under the impression that it is a place where no vegetation grows and a place where life is difficult. What I was seeing was totally unique to me. I was in love!
What I was witnessing was a lush green place, a place with modern buildings and wide roads. The locals were polite and welcoming. What else does anyone need as a traveler? That’s much more than enough, really!
After 2 hours of journey, the bus stopped at this place that had aesthetic artefacts that had a glimpse of the cultural richness of Jordanians. I loved the fact that such places have been built on the way to PETRA to attract tourists.
After a couple of more hours, I was entering Wadi Musa, the closest place to PETRA. The image I had portrayed in my head was quite similar to what I was experiencing.
Soon enough, I was ready to explore PETRA. Petra lies on the slope of Jabal Al-Madbah in a basin among the mountains forming the eastern flank of the Arabah valley. Petra was possibly established in the 4th century BC as the capital of the Nabataean (a Bedouin tribe) Kingdom. During the Eastern Roman Empire, many churches were constructed; however, the city continuously declined leaving a handful of nomads there. The city remained unknown to the world until 1812 when it was rediscovered by a Swiss traveler (Johann Ludwig Burckhardt).
The city is accessible through a 1.2 km long gorge called Siq. The Nabataeans were skillful in harvesting rainwater, agriculture and stone carving. In the 1st century the famous structure, Al Khazneh was built. It was growing and prosperous city then, an estimated 20000 inhabitants were living here. It was the time when the kingdom became the client of the Roman Empire and later lost its independence to the Romans in 106 AD. After 363 earthquake destroyed many of Petra’s structures and new sea routes emerged, Petra lost its prominence. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. Petra is a symbol of Jordan.
There are many trails to take while hiking in PETRA, one of them is The High Place of Sacrifice Trail. The others are
• The Main Trail.
• The Treasury Viewpoint Trail.
• The Wadi Farasa Trail.
• The Monastery Trail. And
• Taking the Main Trail Back

Siq al Barid (Little Petra) and Petra by Night, Jordan
Siq al-Barid (Arabic: literally the cold canyon) also known as Little Petra is an archaeological site located north of Petra and the town of Wadi Musa in the Ma'an Governorate of Jordan. Like Petra, it is a Nabataean site, with buildings carved into the walls of the sandstone canyons. As its name suggests, it is much smaller, consisting of three wider open areas connected by a 450-metre (1,480 ft) canyon. It is part of the Petra Archeological Park, though accessed separately, and included in Petra's inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is often visited by tourists in conjunction with Petra itself, since it is free and usually less crowded.
Like Petra, it was probably built during the height of Nabataean influence during the 1st century C.E. While the purpose of some of the buildings is not clear, archaeologists believe that the whole complex was a suburb of Petra, the Nabatean capital, meant to house visiting traders on the Silk Road. After the decline of the Nabataeans, it fell vacant, used only by Bedouin nomads, for centuries.
Petra Night Show is a way to see part of the rock city by candlelight and explore the old city, which has become a world wonder, incomparable experience starts by walking the entire Siq to the Treasury, lit with over 1,500 candles to bring the major attraction due to the spectacular view it has.
