Petroglyph Provincial Park- Watch Before You Go!
My son Nate and I travel to explore Petroglyph Provincial Park in Central Ontario to explore the native carvings in stone.
Said to be created by Native North Americans, I have always questioned the 'long boats' and their similarity to viking ships. nobody really knows for sure but with the recent discovery of Viking settlements on the east coast of Canada, why would we believe they would stop there?

Lake Superior Agawa Indian Rock Pictographs, Wawa Ontario
The Ojibwa Agawa Pictographs, located near Wawa Ontario, Canada, in Lake Superior Provincial Park, may be at least 150 years old and feature Mishipeshu, the great water lynx. The slide show includes Precambrian rock and foliage close-ups, and islands in Lake Superior's Agawa Bay. Thunder Song by Soulfood infers a mood of brooding, ancient spiritual forces that some call elementals or aeons.

Mazinaw Rock
October 2010. Mazinaw Lake, Ontario.
Mazinaw Lake is a lake in the Addington Highlands north of Kaladar in Eastern Ontario. The lake is situated on the upper Mississippi River. It has a perimeter of 49 km (30 mi) and averages 41 m (135 ft) in depth with a maximum depth of 145 m (476 ft), making it the second deepest lake in Southern Ontario besides the Great Lakes.[citation needed] It is divided into North and South sections of the lake by a narrows, North Mazinaw being the larger and deeper.
Bon Echo Provincial Park encompasses the central section of the lake, including the narrows between North and South Mazinaw, as well as Mazinaw Rock.
A dam is located at the outflow of the lake to control water flow in the spring.
Mazinaw Lake, the second-deepest lake in Ontario, features over 260 native pictographs- often confused with petroglyphs -- the largest visible collection in Canada - including the Ojibwa trickster figure and culture hero, Nanabush. The lake's name comes from Mazinaabikinigan-zaaga'igan, meaning painted-image lake in Algonkian, referring to the pictographs on Mazinaw Rock which overlooks the lake. The rock also contains a tribute to Walt Whitman, inscribed for Flora MacDonald Denison, who ran the Bon Echo Inn on the site of the provincial park during the 1910s.
Mink can be spotted along the northern shores of the lake. (wikipedia)
Wolf Island Provincial park
This is a snapshot of a 2 night canoe/camp trip to Wolf Island park on the May 24 long weekend. We had perfect weather, great fishing for panfish, evidence of bears so beware, and overall a great trip.
