Places to see in ( Bordeaux - France ) Pey Berland Tower
Tour Pey Berland, named for its patron Pey Berland, is located in Bordeaux at the Place Pey Berland next to Cathédrale Saint-André. Its construction was from 1440 to 1500 at the initiative of the archbishop of the same name. Crowned a steeple, it has remained isolated from the rest of the Cathedral to protect the Cathedral from the vibrations of the bells. After the completion, the church had initially no money for the purchase of bells, therefore the tower was used for housing until 1790. After 1790, a lead factory was set up in the tower. Bells were installed after 1851 and the tower began to be used for its original purpose.
The cathedral bell tower. Separate from Saint-André Cathedral, this 15th-century bell tower was built to provide the cathedral with a large bell without threatening the structure. Three bells and a bourdon of Notre-Dame. Still in operation today, Marie, Clémence and Marguerite ring alongside the bourdon or tenor bell Ferdinand-André, installed in 1869 and weighing in at over eight tonnes. At 66 metres tall, Notre-Dame d’Aquitaine looks out over the city of Bordeaux.
The origin of the name. The building is named after Archbishop Pey-Berland (circa 1370-1458) who commissioned the tower, and who was a driving force behind the renewal of the Church in Aquitaine, under control of the Plantagenets at the time.

Pey Berland - Staircase
Pey Berland is the bell tower that stands next to the St. Andre Cathedral. The staircase is very narrow and very steep.. this is video shot while descending the stairs.
Bordeaux Cathedral, Bordeaux, Gironde, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, France, Europe
The Cathedral of Saint Andrew of Bordeaux, commonly known as Bordeaux Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic church dedicated to Saint Andrew and located in Bordeaux, France. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Bordeaux. The cathedral was consecrated by Pope Urban II in 1096. Of the original Romanesque edifice, only a wall in the nave remains. The Royal Gate is from the early 13th century, while the rest of the construction is mostly from the 14th-15th centuries. The building is a national monument of France. In this church in 1137 the 15-year-old Eleanor of Aquitaine married the future Louis VII, a few months before she became Queen. A separate bell tower, the Tour Pey-Berland, stands next to the cathedral. The site is served by line A and line B of the tramway de Bordeaux at Station Hôtel de Ville. The cathedral is home to the Marcadé collection, which consists of a group of forty-two illuminations, among other objects. It was given to Bordeaux Cathedral by Canon Marcadé in 1947. Of note, these illuminations, little studied so far, will be exhibited starting in 2015 in the cathedral, in a room specially designed for this collection.
4k virtual walk [Eng Sub] Bordeaux France ???????? : Rue du Loup, by osmo pocket
Hi, In this Eng Subtitled video, we'll walk on Rue du loup which means Wolf street. Starting from Pey Berland tower and walk all the way along the street, to the door Caihau.
Rue du Loup : If the origin of its name remains indeterminate, the street of the wolf has filled the hearts of the Bordelais and its visitors. Bars, restaurants, shops, a small tour of some of the shops that make this street run parallel to Cours Alsace Lorraine and crossing the rue Sainte-Catherine. A place steeped in history to discover or rediscover!
