Heritage USA 8/14/10; The Lakeside Lodges Area
One area I didn't focus too much upon during my 2009 visit to the former Heritage USA site were the Lakeside Lodges which seem to be more-or-less intact from the PTL era. The remaining buildings are becoming more and more out-of-place, being nearly 30 years old amidst a growing number of new single-family dwellings- some directly across the street from the lodges.
The video starts at the entrance of the Regal Manor Clubhouse. The EL stands for Emerald Lakes. New housing developers always have a burning need to come up with stately names such as Regal House, don't they? Well, the club house is really nothing more than an exercise room next to two small outdoor pools (neither are visible in this video). One of those pools- the larger L-shaped pool- is an actual pool from the PTL era (the only remaining pool left on the grounds from the PTL era). The club house in this video is the building seen at :15, with the three cars in front. The pool isn't shown in this video. It is on the other side of the building. The original Lake Heritage (not visible) is also on the other side of this building, along with the unfinished PTL tower, seen in the background behind the clubhouse..
At :27 is one of the several remaining original outdoor lampposts in the area. The lampposts- I counted five or six in a row spaced about 50 feet apart- all seemed to line what was once a sidewalk, which is still in place, but mostly forgotten, overgrown, ignored and unused. The lampposts ran parallel to the sidewalk, which then ran parallel to the main road leading from the HGH / Partner Center to the television studio and auditorium area. That old primary road has been destroyed, but the new road through the area (Starlight Drive) for the most part seems to follow this old course more-or-less. At :31 you can see a 2nd lamppost in the distance (the base of which can be made out in the direct center of the screen), and a patch of dirt next to the lamppost in the foreground. This bare patch of dirt is the location of the sidewalk. Apparently the dirt is so thin in this bare patch to support the growth of grass.
At :43, in the dead center of the screen is the same lamppost seen in the distance in the previous shot, and the nice new Regal Manor brick pedestal is seen just to the right of center. Here the blacktop sidewalk is more evident, and a few old Christmas lights can be seen here and there. The last Christmas season I think HUSA saw was the Dec '86 season, so the lights likely date from then.
At 1:35 I approached the actual road sign for the Lakeside Loges. The road sign is mounted on a fake stone facade support- the same type used in the Lodge construction. The sign sits on a strip of land in between two short roadways. Those two roadways were the entrance and exits to the Lodge parking lots, and they intersected with the original road that ran through HUSA. Now that the new road has supplanted the old one, these Lodge entrance and exit lanes are three feet below the grade of the new road. You can see that these two access roads leading to the original Lodge parking lot meets at a dead end just feet from where I am standing. Two SUVs use the entrance lane for parking space.
For a brief moment at 2:05 you may see a glimpse of the lake through the lodges and trees, and may just be able to make out the glass domes of the north end of the former Partner Center on the other side of the lake.
I was kind of taken aback to see some of the original signage still in place from the HUSA-era: the lodges still have the Timeshare Lakeside Lodge #_ signs attached to the exterior. I saw two lodges with such signs.
After HUSA I went to Carowinds where a friend was riding coasters. I wanted to catch a glimpse of HUSA from the tall revolving tower at the amusement park. The observation deck revolves as it rests for a few moments at the top, so it was kind of hard to get a picture, but, from the pinnacle, you are just able to make out the tall unfinished HGH tower as well as the former HUSA white water tower. Downtown Charlotte is faintly visible at 2:50. A better glimpse of the distant HUSA tower is at 2:58, directly in the center of the screen.
The remainder of the video pretty much shows the surrounding countryside as the revolving observation deck began its slow spiraling descent.

CHEMTRAILS OVER CUMBERLAND RI
Heavy spraying today, from 11 am on- I saw at least 20-25 planes spraying the same routes criss crossing for most of the day. The sky became an eerie gray color almost metallic, and I've noticed they spray heavily a day or two before the rain comes. And it's due to rain this Saturday.

Hi!
I'm Nicole.. just a 30-something christian wife, and mom of 3 living in a small town called Pittsboro, North Carolina. My husband and I are starting a new church here (thewellpittsboro.org), and boy it's an adventure!
I love being creative, and making videos allows me to express it. I vlog, I share my opinions, my stories, and everything in between. A few of my favorite things are: makeup, La Croix, new ideas, colors, fonts, the past, and the future.. but the present is my favorite.
I used to be an open book for anyone to read. I'm still an open book, I'm just more particular with who I share with. :)
