Developments in science and technology have given rise to many thousands of Philips products. The exhibition of Philips Historical Products has succeeded in illustrating the development of the product categories with a unique selection of appliances, many of which are still in working order. They give visitors a good impression of Philips's historical heritage from its beginnings in 1891.
Besides the new Philips Museum in central Eindhoven, our exhibition of Philips Historical Products remains open for visitors.

My internship experience at Philips: making a real difference where it matters the most
Hi, I am Oussama El Maimouni and I just finished my bachelor Science, Business & Innovation at the VU University in Amsterdam. I graduated with an internship at Philips HQ in Amsterdam, and I wanted to share the highlights of my internship experience because I think it was awesome and beyond expectations. Therefore, I wanted to inspire other people to look for a meaningful internship, that gives a chance to learn and makes a personal impact.
I was involved in a project to support access to primary healthcare in Africa, through a partnership with Amref. I even got to fly to Kenya! The best of all is knowing that my research will be used and carried on in future development of the project; that is what making impact is about for me.
Enjoy watching the highlights of my internship :).

Philips glasfabrieken
Director: Willy Mullens | Production Country: The Netherlands | Year: 1922 | Production Company: Haghe Film | Film from the collection of EYE (Amsterdam) -
Philips was a vertically organized company that did almost everything in-house: the technological and chemical research, the transport, and the production of finished and semi-finished products.
The company saw the promotional possibilities of film early on, and had dozens of corporate films made to present Philips to the outside world.
This film, 'Philips Glassworks', was shot in the Philips factory that produced glass housings for lightbulbs. In the factory, dozens of glass blowers can be seen making these glass housings. Two of them even manage to blow and stretch a piece of glass to a length of twenty meters.

Exclusive WWII footage Straatbeeld Eindhoven veertiger jaren
18th September 2018
This exclusive WWII footage highlights the difficulties faced by citizens of the Dutch city of Eindhoven prior to their liberation on 18 September 1944.
The Philips Company have been based in Eindhoven for over a hundred years. During the war they produced, among other products, vacuum tubes for the radios that were used by military forces for communication. This film shows the low-level daylight attack on their main factory by Allied forces on Sunday, 6 December 1942. This raid was specifically planned for a Sunday to limit civilian casualties. The clock tower, visible in the film, shows the location of this factory which can be seen surrounded by parkland. On the day after the city was liberated by American and British troops, it was attacked by German aircraft. Eindhoven was the first major Dutch city to be freed during Operation Market Garden.
This film was created by Mr. Phocas Kroon, a local Eindhoven film maker. Mr. Kroon has granted permission for this film to be made available on the International School Eindhoven (ISE) youtube channel. The ISE campus was formerly the military barracks that can be seen in the first minutes of the film. The buildings shown were transformed into the campus in 2013.
Over many years, Phocas Kroon has worked to ensure that students within the region understood its unique history. Several of his films offer insight into the economic transformation of the city. One of these he shot to capture the original manufacturing process of the first Philip’s light bulbs. His other films include one that makes visible the massive economic transformation of the city between the 1920s and 1930, and another celebrates the special talents of the Academy Award winning filmmaker, George Pal - a former resident of Eindhoven.

Eindhoven Lichttoren Tower of Light - Glow 2018 4K
The 'Lichttoren', a beacon of indestructible concrete and iconic Eindhoven industrial heritage.
Music, light and shadow build a magical illusion together here that reflects this heritage. The light tower appears as light as a feather one moment, later weighty and almost majestic. A fascinating ode to what light and shadow can create. Old glory recollected and visions for the future revealed. Light makes shadows, makes light.
The Lichttoren is a listed building. This is where life expectancy testing for candescent bulbs continually took place. Later the property was transformed into the head office for the light division. The Lichttoren is an exceptional building, certainly in an architecturally historical sense. Its functionality, efficiency, use of concrete, glass and metal make it a true example for the city.
This project is made possible by Signify (former Philips Lighting) and Vogel's Products BV.
