#battambang #cambodia #millionbats
Have you ever seen more than a million bats fly out of a cave into the setting sun? If not you gotta check out this travel video of Battambang, Cambodia.
In this video you will join us on a bicycle Butterfly tour of the Battambang country side and see how the Khamer villagers live their daily lives, producing everything from rice paper and rice wine to fish paste.
Additionally, you will get to see up close footage of over a million bats flying out of the Phnom Sampeou caves about 15 km from Battambang centrum. Grab a beer on the 2nd story of the Bat Pub and watch the magic unfold.
About Battambang:
Battambang is the capital city of Battambang province in northwestern Cambodia.
Founded in the 11th century by the Khmer Empire, Battambang is the leading rice-producing province of the country. For nearly 100 years it was a major commercial hub and provincial capital of Siamese province of Inner Cambodia (1795-1907), though it was always populated by Khmer, with some ethnic Vietnamese, Lao, Thai and Chinese. Battambang remains the hub of Cambodia's northwest, connecting the region with Phnom Penh and Thailand.
The city is situated on the Sangkae River, a tranquil, small body of water that winds its way picturesquely through Battambang Province. As with much of Cambodia, French Colonial architecture is a notable aspect of the city, with some of the best-preserved examples in the country.

Battambang, Cambodia | What to see in Battambang in 1 day! | South East Asia Travel Vlog E66
TODAY:
-----------
Today we hit up the sights of Battambang! We hired a tuk tuk driver for $12USD ($17NZD) to show us around the town!
Our first stop was the Governor's residence, then we stopped at the Ta Bumbong Statue for a photo. After that we made our way out to the Bamboo train! Its $5USea for the ride, plus we tipped our driver $2 and bought him a drink at the half way point - so all up $13USD ($18.50NZD). Definitely worth a stop though, was way more fun than we thought!!
Next up we went to Sampeou Mountain (Battambang Bat Caves) and made it in time to see the bats leaving! It's the craziest thing, apparently over 3 million bats leave the caves in the every night to go feed before returning around 4am. It was so surreal, the endless stream of bats went on for at least 2 hours. Our tuk tuk driver took us to an entrance to the cave that overlooked the forest and we got to see the best sunset! Was such a great day!

Bicycle Ride touring around Battambang, Cambodia (Wat Sangker, Railway Station, Governor's Office)
On the second day of Khmer New Year (Cambodian New Year) we decided to go on a bicycle ride touring around Battambang, Cambodia exploring along the Sangker River, Wat Sangker, Sangker Park, Old Railway Train Station, the Governor's Office and other random areas of town. During the heat and humidity of a typical day it's a great idea to wake up early and go exploring on bike before it gets too hot. The city is very pedestrian and bicycle friendly (aside from the main roads) along most areas. Along the way you'll notice many Wats (Buddhist temples), Khmer locals, monks and even animals. We recommend hopping on a bicycle as one of the many things to see and do while visiting Battambang. Although Battambang itself doesn't have a lot of main attractions, the laid back nature of the city is one of the featured highlights.

Our favorite travel photos from Cambodia | Travel Pictures Slideshow from Cambodia
The following is a collection of our favorite travel photos from Cambodia (a travel pictures slideshow sequence) including travel images from Phnom Penh, Battambang, Angkor, Temples of Angkor, Angkor Wat, Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Many of our images include candid portraits of Khmer locals. The Cambodian locals themselves are some of the friendliest and kindest folks on the planet which is a minor miracle given recent tragic events in the country under the Khmer Rouge. Some of our top highlights included visiting the many temples of Angkor (Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Bayon, Preah Khan, Ta Som, Banteay Srei), watching the Battambang Circus and taking numerous bus trips and tuk-tuk rides.

Entry Title: Siem Reap - Battambang
Entry:
Arrivée a Battambang vers 14h00.

Battambang, Cambodia: Sony RX100V HFR (500 fps)
I have been working on a personal photography project in Battambang Province, Cambodia this month.
While riding around the province on the back of a motorcycle, I shot random scenes using the High Frame Rate (HFR) function on my Sony RX100V.
The footage would probably look better if switched to 250 FPS for the low light stuff, but I just leave it on 500 FPS for better or worse. I threw it all into iMovie and outputted it. No fancy grading or editing, as you can see.
Still an OK depiction of a “barang’s eye” view of my favourite Cambodian location.
I always stay at The Royal Hotel in Battambang, my home away from home in Northwest Cambodia.
I lived in Phnom Penh from 1994 till 2000. I have been based in Thailand for many years, so I come back here often.
I have more Cambodian content on this channel, and tons on my FB page and website.
