5 Day Chiang Mai Photography Workshop Slideshow
We have designed our 5 day travel photography workshops to immerse you in photography and northern Thai culture. Intrepid photographers can experience an inspiring blend of the craft of photography and unique opportunities. The environment is friendly, encouraging and designed for amateur photographers at any level.
Kevin Landwer-Johan is the workshop leader. He will build your confidence in your camera skills. He’ll also guide you in shaping and sharpening your creative intent.
Bring your curiosity along and discover the joys of photographing everything from exotic costumed models to humble rural markets and breathtaking landscapes. Travel photography is often focused on the obvious. Beyond what every other tourist sees this workshop will take you off the well-beaten paths.
Variety of experience adds interest to any photo tour or photo workshop. We provide loads of diversity of locations and subjects during our 5-day photography workshops. You will have an opportunity to work with costumed models, not something at all normal for travel photography. Street photography in Chiang Mai province in a rural setting is another unique experience you will have. Landscape photography in Thailand is best in the mountains, and Doi Inthanon is the highest in the country. We spend a whole day exploring it with our cameras.
My Life as an Expat in Chiang Mai, Thailand | Photography Lifestyle Vlog
I walk you through my life as an expat in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I'm a week in, and it's going so good!
Check out my photography on Instagram at @brendanvanson.
My life as expat in Chiang Mai is off to a good start. And, actually, I took a whole week off the vlog to get settled into a bit of a routine. So, on this episode, I wanted to walk you through a day in my life here in Thailand.
Expat life in Thailand is pretty good. The weather is great, the food is good, and overally the quality of life is so high. I feel like I'm living a better life here without nearly as much stress.
Our apartment in Chiang Mai is in a cool area close to Maya Shopping Mall, which has kind of turned into our defacto base here in the Thai city. It's got a great co-working space, a gym, and it even has a street food market.
But, my expat life in Chiang Mai doesn't revolve entirely around life at the mall. I've done some exploring too. And, on the vlog today we headed to a temple to shoot some photography. It was so much fun.
Finally, nothing ends a day in Thailand quite like some street food.
There are lots of great places to get street food in Chiang Mai, so we wanted to try something different. We had khao soi moo which is a noodle dish from Northern Thailand. It's my favourite thing here, by far. I could eat it every day.
Chiang Mai is a popular place for expats. And, it's not hard to see why. It's just a phenomenal place to live. It's affordable, it's friendly, and it's vibrant. I'm loving life here.
There are lots more Thailand vlogs coming up on the channel. I'm off to places like Koh Samui, Bangkok, and Chiang Rai. And, of course, there will be more content from here in Chiang Mai!

Frustrated with Photography | Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai
I'm a bit frustrated with my photography right now. I'm in a bit of a rut. Hopefully, a visit to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep will cure that.
My travel photography is on IG at @brendanvanson
Photography isn't always easy, even to professional travel photographers. Sometimes, we struggle. Actually, I think often we struggle more than we strive.
On this photography channel, I really try to share the good and the bad. I want to paint a proper picture of life as a travel photographer. And, there are times we go through these phases where we kind of suck. Right now, here in Thailand, I'm kind of frustrated with photography. I'm in a rut. And, I was hoping heading out and shooting would cure that.
So, I went up to Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep here in Chiang Mai.
Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep is incredible. It really is impressive. But, when you're in a photography rut, it's hard to see the photos. And, I was frustrated a bit with my lack of ability to find a cool composition to shoot at the temple. Thailand in so many ways has frustrated me from a photography perspective. And, it's not just here in Chiang Mai, it's been all over and even on previous trips. Thailand is my greatest photography struggle and it shouldn't be like that. It should be fairly easy.
That said, Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep is amazing and the experience shooting photography up there was really cool.
On tomorrow's vlog, I'll be taking the photography channel off to Pai where I'll hopefully shake this funk.
