Photographing Morocco - Marrakech to the Desert
Morocco Photo Tour -
Two weeks ago we returned from a great photo trip to Morocco. We spent 15 days in this beautiful country and explored both the cities and also the desert. In this vlog we travel from Marrakech to the Erg Chigaga desert and I show you the places we visit and photograph along the way.
The highlight was our stay in the Al Koutban Berber Camp and photographing the endlesss dunes.

Where to stay in marrakech? rent a nice marrakech riad. its spacious and amazing for photos.
What to do in marrakech? One notable place is Marrakech Museum or the YSL Museum (Yves Saint Laurant Museum)
How to dress in Morocco? If you love fashion you should be ok. we didn't feel uncomfortable at any time here but please use common sense. Observe your surroundings before being extra :-)
Is Marrakech Morocco safe? I was with a group of people and with a friend at times. It feels safer with a friend for sure, also due to unfamiliar territory.
What to eat in morocco? There are tons of lamb, chicken, and vegetarian options. you'll be fine.

Our travel photography workshop in Morocco was a great success if I do say so myself. We had an absolutely brilliant time in the country, and I think the participants got a lot out of the photo adventure. Morocco is just such a diverse country with so much to offer. We were on the coast, in ancient cities, in snowy mountains, and the Sahara Desert. I shot a ton of photography in the 2 weeks, and I'm sure the participants got some beautiful images as well. We had a fantastic group of photographers in Morocco, and I'm happy to say that I feel like our little community of travel photographers is growing a little bit more each day.

Best way to Experience the Sahara Desert | Camping in Merzouga, Morocco
The final Morocco vlog is here! Camping in the Sahara Desert at a spot called Merzouga.
Here we rode camels to our remote campsite, spent the night eating Moroccan food and listening to music played by the locals.
In the morning we made our way back to our new campsite by camel ride before jumping into some Jeeps to go on Safari.
To end it all a big long 13 hour bus ride to Marrakesh so we can finally show you what staying in a Riad is like.
Next stop: Flying home to surprise Jess's brother for Christmas!

Exploring Marrakech, Morocco - Timelapse & Travel Video
Exploring Marrakech on foot is a great adventure and fun, might it be lovely area around iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the highest point in Marrakesh, or ancient palaces Bahia & El Badi with their with lush interior courtyards. Marrakech souks are very vibrant places with stalls offering nearly anything imaginable.
One of the most unique thing about eating in Morocco is that the food that you often get is still extremely hot and boiling, which makes it fun experience. Add local entertaiment in form of funny singer and dancer with the shashiya (red hat with a twirling tassel) and you get unforgettable evening.
Marrakech's old city town, now a UNESCO World Heritage site is a magical labyrinthine of alleys within its ancient city walls. It is extremely busy town at nearly any time of the day. If you are lucky, you can see the mighty High Atlas Mountains on the horizon, which creates great contrast to the palm trees and ancient walls.
After multiple timelapse videos I thought it was time for small change and I mixed timelapse sequences with some interesting video footage too.

Morocco Roadtrip
This was our roadtrip around Morocco. We spent a few nights sleeping in the car and the rest in Airbnbs and hostels. We ate a lot of tajine and went on hikes off into the desert. It was one of the most exciting trips we've had yet!

Road Tripping from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert in Morocco
From the bustling city of Marrakesh, through the snow-capped Atlas mountains, to the blazing deserts and sand dunes of Merzouga, and back down all the way to the coast, I covered more than 800 miles of Morocco in a week.

Ultimate MARRAKESH Street Food Market Tour | Morocco 4K Travel Vlog
Ultimate MARRAKESH Street Food Market Tour | Morocco 4K Travel Vlog
There’s nowhere in Morocco like the Jemaa el-Fna square – no place that so effortlessly involves you and keeps you coming back for more. I have been to Marrakech 3 times now and I still come back and visit this place every time. Jemaa el-Fna is located in the medina quarter of #Marrakesh. The square is open daily and things typically get going early morning and continue until at least midnight.
By day, most of the square is just a big open space. In the morning, stall owners set up their stands selling fresh orange juice, spices, traditional medicines, mint leaves, and snails. Definitely try the fresh squeezed orange juices, its so sweet and refreshing. The flutes of snake charmers drift across the square, monkey trainers entertain the crowd, and the Berber musicians will create a show but of course only if you pay them. Be careful when taking photos! Always ask for permission to avoid argueing with snake charmers, monkey trainers, and the singers as they may demand a lot of money. But do support the locals by tipping them off with around 10 - 20 Dirhams per photo ( do negotiate beforehand).
The best time to visit this square is just before sunset. Once the sun sets, Jemaa el-Fna really comes alive. The crowd gets bigger and the Restaurants around the square start serving hungry customers delicious #streetfood as they stroll around this bustling square. Even if you don’t eat at them, you should at least wander down the makeshift lane of foodstalls on the Jemaa el Fna, which look great in the evening, lit by lanterns. Check out the hyperlapse footage I created! As well as couscous, tagine and pastilla, there are spicy merguez sausages, chicken and beef kebabs, harira soup, salads, fried fish, and calamari. For the more adventurous why not try a sheep's head complete with eyes. Check out stall number 10 and the crew!
Marrakech is full of fun loving people and they certainly know how to entertain. Especially if you're from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh, they will serenade you with their Bollywood music skills and call you Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan and Salman khan!
