Best Hotdog in Iceland | Reykjavik | Photo Tour Day 1
The best hotdog in Iceland can be found in Iceland. And, to be sure I ate more than 1.
Check my travel photography from Iceland out on Instagram @brendanvanson
It's day 1 of our photo tour in Iceland, and we are just getting to know everyone and getting started. The trip starts in Reykjavik today, but it's really just a day to meet everyone and get organized. The real photo tour activities start tomorrow as we head up the coast towards Kirkjufellsfoss.
In the vlog, we also tried the best hotdog in Iceland as we wandered around the city.
Reykjavik is one of the coolest cities. I think it's so underrated. So often, people come to Iceland and just leave this city so quickly.

ICELAND Travel and Photography Guide
In this travel and photography guide video, I will show you where and what to see in Iceland. I do so by showing my way to approach different locations in Iceland. I take them one by one in geographical order clockwise around the island. I will stress that this is NOT how you're supposed to do it. This is simply how I would approach Iceland. You are still the sole creator of your tour to Iceland and you have to design your tour with what you want to accomplish in mind.

3 Things I Learned on my Photography Trip to Iceland
My photography trip to Iceland is over and I'm heading home. Here are 3 things I learned.
Check out Ivan and me on Instagram at @IvanThorPhoto and @Brendanvanson
See Gareth ( and Steve ( for more Iceland coverage soon.
Photography online back up:
It's my last Iceland Vlog as Jeff and I are dropping people off at the airport and ending this photography trip.
The Photography trip to Iceland has been amazing. And, all the participants have been incredible.
I learned a lot on this photo trip, too. Yes, I was the guide and instructor, but I think that no matter your position you should always be seeking to grow and learn. This trip was no different.
The three things I learned in Iceland were:
1) Photographers who want to sell their images can't shoot the same locations everyone else does. If you shoot photography at the iconic places only, it's hard to sell the files as there's so much competition. Find new places to shoot.
2) The big difference between making it as a pro photographer and not is finding the time to shoot. You really need to dive in and commit if you want to be a professional photographer.
3) I've been lucky in so many ways. I've never had broken camera gear. I've never lost files. And, I've been pretty careless. So, I need to get better at protecting my gear.
This is the last Iceland Vlog, and I do head back to England at the end of this episode.
The next photography vlog will be from back here in England. So, I hope you stay tuned to the channel for those episodes.
Iconic Photography Locations in Iceland
There are so many photography locations in Iceland. These are some of the most iconic spots for landscape photography.

It's day 4 of our Iceland photography workshop and things have been going really well. We've already photographed some really beautiful locations in the west of the country. Today, we've moved to the south where there are some of the most iconic photography locations in Iceland.
We started off with Seljalandsfosss which is one of my favourite waterfalls in Iceland for landscape photography. There are some classic images made from this location. But, today I worked to find a new image. I think I was pretty successful.
Then, we headed to Skogafoss and the secret waterfall. Again, I think the whole photography workshop group did really well. And, I even managed to push the shutter on a couple Images.
Finally, we headed to Vik beach which is a beautiful place for sunset. Again, it was the perfect photography location in Iceland to end the day.
Tomorrow, there will be another vlog from Iceland!

REYKJAVIK in MARCH - STREET ART, BLUE LAGOON, AND CITY TOUR
Reykjavik is the northernmost capital city known for its stylish boutique shops, street art, and cosmopolitan museums. The city features many colorful buildings, a unique electronica music scene, and a historic Viking heritage.
Reykjavik has a small-town feel, despite being a capital city. The weather dipped to 20°F, but it did not stop life in this city. Check out the behind the scenes video of this exciting city.

Iceland Photo Tour :: The Magnificent Beauty of Iceland
Iceland Photo Tour :: The Magnificent Beauty of Iceland
Visitors to the shores of Iceland have for centuries marvelled at a magnificent and unspoiled beauty. The Icelandic Westfjords lies just beneath the Arctic Circle and during the summer it benefits from an abundance of natural light. The Westfjords are undoubtably one of the most exciting places in the world for nature and travel photography. This secluded giant peninsula is full of narrow and deep blue fjords, shallow and steep valleys dominated by sheer rock faces and serene green slopes.

Travel Photography in Iceland
To see some of the images from this trip and video, check out this article on the blog:
I finally got the chance to shoot some travel photography in Iceland. It seems like every professional travel photographer on the planet has been there in the past couple years, so it was nice to get some images under my belt there too.
I just had a week to photograph Iceland, which isn't nearly enough time. I think I could have spent a solid month there and still not felt like I had properly covered it. Since it was my first time there, I really tried to just hit up the hotspots and try to find some other cool things in between. It was a bit of a scouting trip for the next time I go.
Now, well photography in Iceland is fairly easy in that there is always an amazing image to capture, it's also extremely challenging at times. The weather changes every five minutes, there are rolling storms and lots of wind; so it makes for a bit of an adventure.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the video. I've got a couple more photography videos from Iceland coming in the next little while, so stay tuned, and don't forget to subscribe!

The Luckiest Photography Workshop in Iceland!
This Iceland photography workshop group has been the luckiest I've ever had in Iceland. Absolutely unreal.
Info on the Photo Contests:
My Instagram:
Landscape photography in Iceland is so dependent on the weather. And most photography workshops in Iceland have to battle through pretty grim weather conditions from time to time. In fact, I think most workshops expect to photograph about 75% of their planned locations - and even that means you've done pretty well.
But, I have the luckiest photography workshop group in Iceland. So far, we've photographed every single one of the locations we planned. This has been a landscape photography workshop for the ages.
Of course, this morning in Iceland it looked like it wasn't going to end up being the right conditions for landscape photography. Then, out of nowhere, the weather cleared long enough to take pictures. The whole day after, it rained. I sure we were going to get washed out again. But, magically, at sunset, we were gifted the most epic landscape photography light possible in Iceland. The workshop groups was stoked.

Things I Learned on My Iceland Photography Tour
The Iceland photography tour was amazing. And, I did learn a lot myself - even as the leader. These are my thoughts.
The Giveaways:
Instagram:
My Iceland photography tour went so very well. Honestly, at the end of each tour I take a massive sigh of relief. Obviously, on a photography tour things can go wrong. And, luckily, on all my trips to date - including this on to Iceland - things have gone pretty smoothly. This Iceland photo tour in particular went so very smoothly. We had great light, and awesome group, and all made some incredible photos.
But, I also learned a lot on this trip.
So, I wanted to take the time to share my thoughts on the things I learned leading my Iceland photography tour.
This is a sit-down video where I chat about those things I learned. There will be more vlog-style action coming up soon.

Landscape Photography in Iceland | Unique Compositions in a Photographer's Dream Location
In this landscape photography vlog, I fulfilled a dream and travel to one of the most photographed countries in the world. Ever since I started my landscape photography journey, I wanted to go visit Iceland to witness first hand the epic landscapes and waterfalls this country has to offer.
I leave the beautiful landscapes of the UK behind, and fly to Reykjavík where I pick up my rental motorhome that will be my accomodation for the week, more about that later. I drive north to Snæfellsjökull, and spend the day visiting the Black Church and bird covered coastlines and exploring amazing waterfalls that are just a short walking distance from parks along the main road.
I arrived at, Kirkjufell Mountain and the gorgeous Kirkjufellsfoss. It was around 8:00pm so there were still plenty of photographers around. I explored the place for a couple of hours as well as the nearby town of Grundarfjörður, until the sun started to set and I had the place to myself.
This is a well photographed location and while it was nice to capture my own image of the iconic shot this place is famous for, I wanted to also find other more unique compositions that showcased this stunning scene. I used the waterfall and river as foreground interest with Kirkjufell Mountain in the background. Increasing my f-stop so I can achieve a slow enough shutter speed to capture the movement of the water. That drama in the foreground providing really interest leading the eye into this dynamic scene.
Before I left, I moved into a position where Kirkjufell Mountain was directly behind the lake. With the wind calming down the lake was very still providing a wonderful mirror effect, catching the reflect of the mountain, the sky and the colour in the clouds.
