Aubrey was a Speech-Language Pathologist, Donnie was graphic designer, but we both had a dream to travel the world and experience cultures. After three years of being married and dreaming about if something like this great adventure would be possible, we decided to quit the rat race and take on the world. We sold everything we had, quit our jobs, and took off! We don't know how long we will get to do this, and we do have a goal of getting jobs in the UK eventually, but we are going to live it to the fullest while we can!

Fotoworkshops Norway Northern Lights Photography Tour
Located inside The Arctic Circle @ 68 degrees north, Lofoten is truly a photographers paradise.
Lofoten is an archipelago and a traditional district in the county of Nordland Norway, and is known for its distinctive scenery with dramatic mountain peaks, sheltered bays, beaches and untouched wilderness. Join Rod Thomas and Glenn Mckimmin on this 7 day adventure into one of the most photogenic places on earth during what is considered the absolute best time to visit this region, winter.
Limited to just 6 clients only, this trip is designed to get the best out of this location in a small, and intimate group. This Northern Lights Photographic Tour will amaze you.
The light at this time of year is amazing as the sun’s latitude stays low on the horizon, providing gorgeous soft light all day long. If the weather allows it, we will be on location for sunrise on every day on this tour, and if we can maintain the energy levels all throughout the day, we will keep on going till sunset.
If there are clear skies, we will head out to shoot the Aurora Borealis at night. Obviously, our itinerary is flexible – we will follow the light, that’s our only rule.
Book your spot on the next Fotoworkshops tour today.
Tour Diary || Photographing Tromsø in Norway (Day One)
In November last year, my band got the chance to play a couple of concerts in the northern Norway. This area is famous for it's northern lights, so needles to say, I brought my GH5. This first video is from Tromsø. I had three hours to myself, so I decided to walk around and getting to know the town a bit. Grabbing a few photographs along the way. Because this place is definitely a place I'm getting back to some other day. When I'm better equipped and have more time.
Please feel free to ask any question in the comment section.
And yes, please feel free to like, share and subscribe.
That really helps me out!
Edited in Final Cut Pro.
Color correcting is done with Lightroom, Film Convert and LUTS from Pixel Film Studios.
In this episode I used my Panasonic Lumix GH5 with the Lumix 12-60mm lens. All the rest of the filming is done with the use of an iPhone 7 + a Røde smartLAV mic.

????????Chasing Lights in Tromsø, Norway
Thomas Hunger is an average German fellow but with a touch of quirkiness—his obsession with the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). He beams with childish enthusiasm and his eyes light up with wonder every time he talks about this natural phenomenon.
But Thomas is not a visitor seeing it for the first time nor is he just a regular tour guide—Thomas “chases” Aurora like a stormchaser would chase tornados. He is in the business of selling the experience of seeing the Northern Lights even though he can never guarantee his guests that he and his team will succeed catching one. Still, his trips are filled with excitement and frenzy as he constantly consults weather apps to find it, communicates with his team on possible sightings, and crosses open borders into Sweden and Finland with his head fixed skywards, waiting for Aurora to poke out from behind the clouds at night.
When the van they travel in stops his enthusiastic guests get off and plant a thicket of tripods in the snow—cameras pointed up and ISOs boosted high to vividly capture the magical and undulating green waves in the sky.
Thomas runs one of the most successful companies in Tromsø, Norway incidentally called, Chasing Lights. Guests from as far as Malaysia, China and India make the journey just to be mesmerized by this wash of green that fills the skies of Arctic nights. It’s an experience to cross off the bucket list, his guests often say.

A quick update on this weeks plans with a bonus pic taken up a mountain.
These vlogs are to show accessible places for landscape photography. No need for long hikes and wild camping.
How to Photograph The Northern Lights
These are my tips to photographing the northern lights. Here in Norway, we had a great chance to photograph the northern lights. It went really well!

In Tromso, Norway the Aurora Borealis come out quite often. And when they do, photographers head out chasing them. However, I've gotten pretty good at predicting the northern lights and knowing where to photograph them.
In this photography video I share my tips on how to photograph the northern lights.
The apps I used to prepare for this Northern lights photo shoot in Norway were Aurora Pro, MeteoEarth, and Light Pollution Map.

Lofoten Photo Tour & Workshop by Dan Zafra
Traveling to Lofoten is increasingly popular. Every year the number of tourists who travel to this archipelago in Northern Norway in search of the supernatural Arctic landscapes increase.
Within the Lofoten Islands, you will find otherworldly vertical fjords, turquoise waters, a great variety of cetaceans species, and a simple lifestyle that will steal your heart.
During the summer, the vast majority of tourists travel to Lofoten by Campervan or RV as wild camping is one of the main attractions on the island. However, the usual thing in winter is to plan a trip to see the Northern Lights in Lofoten. Following the high latitude where these islands are located, observing this phenomenon is relatively easy.

Amazing Views and Northern Lights over the City of Tromso - Best Day Ever!
Had such a fun day today in Tromso, Norway.
We first went for a hike on the outskirts of the City to get a nice viewpoint overlooking the City as the sun was setting. Once again the light was absolutely beautiful so it made for some nice landscape photography.
Later that evening we then went up Tromso's cable car to watch the Northern Lights over the entire City. It was really incredible and such a fun day!
Oh and I fall over...... a lot!

Winter sailing & photography expeditions Bodø - Lofoten - Tromsø
This is a little film from our winter trips sailing from Bodø - Lofoten -Tromsø. Underway you learn how to sail in the winter of Northern Norway and how to capture the best pictures from your outdoor adventures.
The very special about these trips is the seasonal light which gives us the craziest #nofilter experiences hour after hour.
We sail a full week from Bodø, via Lofoten and Senja, to the “Paris of the north” Tromsø.
There is a big chance of sailing under the northern light, as well as sailing with all the whales along the coast of Northern Norway.
Read more about the trip here:
