This is the popular sea of clouds in Southern Thailand. It is called Iyerweng or I-yerweng and it is one hour away from Betong town in the province of Yala. Iyerweng is packed with locals and tourists from 5 am as many want to witness the sunrise with the sea of clouds. The other popular sea of clouds in Thailand is in Petchabun.

Driving there is easy and you can park at the immigration checkpoint parking and take a taxi which is easier and plenty of sight seeing at Betong which are easy accessible via tuttut.

Rolling in the Hills of Betong, Thailand visiting Buddhist Golden Temple Wat Phutthathiwat
Phra Mahathat Chedi Phra Phutthathammaprakat (พระมหาธาตุเจดีย์พระพุทธธรรมประกาศ) is located on a hilltop in Betong city center, on the ground of Wat Phutthathiwat, Thanon Rattanakit. This chedi is built in the modern Sivijaya style, covered in gold color. It is 39.9 meters high, built to commemorate the 69th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen. From the chedi one can see all of the temple ground and part of Betong city center.

Betong... A Beautiful City in the Mist
Betong is the southernmost district of Thailand that has long been known as the city in the mist due to its hill-locked geography. It's common to see a morning mist floating above the town and tourists particularly enjoy the cold climate flower gardens. A hot spring is located not too far from the town centre, and the biggest red mailbox in the world is right in the heart of the town.
The beautiful Phra Mahathat Chedi Phra Buddha Dhamma Prakat is perched on a foothill near Buddha Thiwad temple on Rattakij Road and worshipped by locals and visitors alike. Piyamit Tunnel is also interesting. It was dug by hand by the communists who were fighting in the area during the 1970s.
Foodies can tuck into Betong chicken and a range of Chinese-influenced recipes like steamed fish with pickled plum, Betong rice noodle, Betong soy sauce and its delicious black jelly dessert.
