One of the first sights that greeted foreigners arriving in Thailand 150 years ago was a brilliant white pagoda on an island in the middle of the river. The locals called it ‘Phra Chedi Klang Nam’, or Pagoda in the river. The island was partly natural caused by the accumulation of sand brought down by the flood waters. Over the years the river has silted up even more causing the island to become part of the west bank. Now the temple is more known by its official name of Phra Samut Chedi.
PLACE: Phi Sua Samut Fort

During the late 19th Century, the colonial powers of France and to a lesser extent Great Britain were attempting to carve up parts of Siam for themselves. In order to protect his kingdom, King Rama V ordered the construction of Phra Chulachomklao Fort at the entrance to the Chao Phraya estuary. He also ordered the modernization of other forts on both sides of the river in Samut Prakan so that the approach to Bangkok could be protected. This included the fortress island of Phi Sua Samut opposite the present day city hall.

Phra Samut Chedi, a sacred Stupa of Samut Prakan built by King Rama II
( 1809-1824 ), is over 180 years old. Originally, the Stupa was on a mid river islet of the Chao Phraya River.
Time went by and the islet became part of the mainland. Since it is situated at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River, the white Stupa wrapped around with a red cloth, was once a landmark signalling to navigators that they were approaching the capital of Thailand. At present, it is used as the province's emblem.
Standing at the base of the Stupa, which is 36 metres tall after its restoration in the reign of King Rama IV ( 1851-1868 ). Around the base, on four corners, there are situated four little Chinese style pavilions.
A European style hall is located nearby. It was constructed in the reign of King Rama V ( 868-1910 ) to be used in religious ceremonies. Enshrined in the hall is a statue of King Rama II.

Biggest Festival of the Year Thai Food Market Phra Samut Chedi
If you love Thai food but you hate crowds, then a visit to this amazing festival is going to be both the best and worst time of your life. The amount of food that is on offer is only bettered by the number of visitors that come to enjoy the biggest festival of the year in Samut Prakan. Just on the outskirts of Bangkok, Thailand.
We love this event so much that we’ll be visiting the market at least 4 or 5 times during the 12 day celebration (weather permitting), but no more then 3 with our video camera.
We hope that you enjoyed watching this video.

Thanks again for joining us! Today, i have some flights shooted during the beginning of the year with some boats and a lot of water...
I also found some lost footages of The Bridge On The River Kwai, it was a tricky flight because i had to fly 2KM away from the bridge and there was a lot electric cables between my ground station and my quadcopter. I also flew on a rainny day because i did not want to fly when there was too many people on this bridge...
