Phuktal monastery, India HD 2014 HD
Phuktal/Phugtal Gompa is a monastery which is located in Ladakh (north of India).
Suspending from the tip of a rocky canyon precariously placed under the opening of a large cave, Phugtal Gompa was built directly into the cliff side around the 12th century and it is a home for about 70 monks.

Lighting The Himalayas initiative powers up Phugtal Monastery
This film entails an enthralling journey with a cause to change the lives of several Lamas in Ladakh. 20 people from 13 countries marched towards a remote corner of Zanskar in Jammu and Kashmir in the quest of lighting up the 2,500 year old Phugtal Monastery, so far devoid of any modern amenities like electricity, with solar energy.

Phugtal Monastery, India
Phugtal Monastery or Phugtal Gompa (often transliterated as Phuktal) is a monastery in south-eastern Zanskar, Ladakh in northern India.
Founded by Gangsem Sherap Sampo in the early 12th century, the monastery is a unique construction built into the cliffside like a honeycomb. It is located on the mouth of a cave on the cliff face of a lateral gorge of a major tributary of the Lungnak (Lingti-Tsarap) River.

Trek to Unbelievable Phuktal Monastery, Zanskar
Do you want to visit the most incredibly situated, let alone remote, monastery in Ladakh? Then put on your hiking boots. Only those on foot can get to Phuktal Monastery at 3,970 meters/13,024 feet.
Phuktal is a 5km/3.1 mile hike in each direction just from Purne campgrounds. Definitely not a walk in the park.
Phuktal Monastery spills out of a cave up in a sheer mountain face of a gorge! It is perhaps the most isolated monastery in Zanskar and date back to the 12th century. Home to about 70 monks, ruins of the original monastery still stand in the cave mouth.
Marine Steve and I can now count ourselves among the proud, the few who made it to extremely remote Phuktal Monastery.

Teaser | Zanskar Valley | Phugtal Monastery | Vlog | | 2k Full HD | Aug 2018 | Himalayan Talkies
Enjoy a teaser video to my ride to Zanskar Valley in Aug 2018. The trip comprised of riding through the beautiful Jammu-Srinagar Highway, fabled Srinagar-Leh Highway and through treacherous roads of Suru and Zanskar Valleys.
The trip also covers trek to Phugtal Gompa, located in the remote Lungnak Valley in south-eastern Zanskar. It is a Buddhist monastery in Ladakh that can only be reached on foot. Supplies to the monastery are brought on horses, donkeys, and mules in the warmer months, and in the frozen winters, they are transported through the frozen Zanskar River. A road is expected to be built up to the monastery.
Stay tuned, as the day wise story unfolds.

The Backbreaking Ride from Padum to Kargil, Ladakh
A 3:00a wake-up at the Ibex Hotel in Padum to finish packing then out in the chill of morning to wait for our crew. Into a new jeep carrying less gear with packed breakfast and lunch made by cook Baikaji.
This 4x4 had tires that were beyond pitiful. Bald, spare had chunks of tread missing! How long would these tires last? Surely not all the way to Kargil!
And so began a 16 hour agonizing journey on what passed for a road... Just shoot me now...

A short walk in Zanskar
Departure from Leh (Ladakh) via Kargil to the Zanskar region, where the trek starts. On the way is Lamayru Monastery and further up before Kargil is Mulbek Gompa, where the statue of Maitreya was carved in the first century B.C. during the Kushan period. The video ends with the Nun Kun Massif, which lies on the great Himalayan range, the highest peak in Ladakh at 7077m.
Phugtal Monastery - Breakfast in the making
Phugtal Monastery or Phugtal Gompa is located in the southeastern of Zanskar, in the Ladakhi region.
This video takes you on a walk to the Phugtal Monastery kitchen during morning hours where breakfast is being prepared.
The Queen of Zangla
In February of 2018, Kahtoola Founder and Owner Danny Giovale and a team of five set out on a multi-week backpacking trip to the remote Phuktal Monastery by way of the Zanskar River, an ancient trade route in the Indian Himalaya. Having worked to preserve and enrich Tibetan culture through the Kahtoola for the People program for 20 years, it is a unique look at the imminent impacts of climate change and road development on traditional Tibetan Buddhist practices and culture in the region.

Chadar2019##Leh##Ladakh##kashmir##kargil#india##
The frozen Zanskar River trek is actually a connecting link between the villages of Zanskar Valley and the town of Chilling in Ladakh and acts as the only and the most stable way of staying connected to the rest of world for the people here in the months of extreme winter. Passing through the deep valley, the frozen river is bounded by huge walls of mountains on both sides, making a person feel like walking amidst high castle walls. Frozen Waterfalls, flowing green river on the trek, the cold temperatures and the warm smiles of the local Ladakhis who are going by their normal day are the elements that make the Chadar Trek, and in fact, all of Ladakh a beautiful paradise to visit...@nu....
