The spanner man Burraport Victoria Australia
The Spanner Man
Meet one the world’s most unusual artists at Burraport Victoria. John Piccoli welds large sculptures using spanners — earning him the nickname the Spanner Man. The sculptures are displayed in a beautifully laid out garden. John has been confined to a wheelchair for most of his life. He typifies that with enough determination most things in life are possible to achieve. This video beautifully captures John’s strength of will power as well as the mood of the pioneering Australian Outback.
Bring your lunch and spend an afternoon wandering and wondering.
The Spanner Man, Loddon Valley
Thistle Sculpture made from chrome spanners by John Piccoli
The Spanner Man John Piccoli showed us this almost complete new creation in his Barraport workshop during a visit by the Rotary Club of Kerang. It is mounted on a spring steel centre so that it will sway and wobble just like a real Scotch Thistle. This is his first all chrome sculpture, an absolutely gob-smacking piece! John has been creating spanner sculptures for fourteen years. Tours can be arranged by calling him - cost is $7 per person and is money exceedingly well spent.

Meet The Spanner Man - John Piccoli
John Piccoli has been confined to a wheelchair since he contracted polio as an eight-year-old in 1949.
Despite this, John continued farming, and 12 years ago began his truly extraordinary welding art, which has brought him statewide renown as 'The Spanner Man'.
I do not own or pretend to own this video although I did add the credits. The video is from an article by Angus Verley called the Meet The Spanner Man, posted on the City Journal website on May 23 2012 at this link:
