A March Through Europe (Pt. 42) - Brothers Grimm Tour; Hanau, Germany
March 10, 2018 - Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm - the Brothers Grimm (or, die Brüder Grimm), creators and collectors of oral folk tales were born in the city of Hanau, Germany.
They are credited with the stories of Cinderella, the Frog Prince, Hansel and Gretel, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White, and Little Red Hiding Hood, among many others.
Not only is Hanau their birthplace and filled with many statues saluting their work, but it is a beautiful city in its own right, pre-war and post-war, filled with historical buildings and modern malls, plazas, and transit hubs.

The Lumberman's Monument was erected in 1931 as a lasting memorial to the lumbermen that harvested Michigan's giant white pine. A 14 foot bronze statue overlooks the beautiful Au Sable River. The three figures represent various stages of the historic lumbering operation. In the center, the timber cruiser holds a compass, to his left, a sawyer holds an ax and cross-cut saw. On the right, is the river rat using a peavey.

Exploring Wunstorf Germany - Did we see a UFO there ?
In this episode we arrive in Germany. We meet up with our friends Neele & Timo who take us to the town of Wunstorf. A lovely little town and we had a wonderful morning exploring it before sampling some of the goodies from the local bakery.
We were treated to a lovely sunset over a nearby lake.
Then in the morning we had to stop Trudy as we saw a UFO in the sky. What was it that we saw ??

Children's Book Week Celebration
The Library of Congress joins the 100th anniversary celebration of Children’s Book Week (April 29 to May 5, 2019), the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country, sponsored by the Children’s Book Council (CBC).
We will launch a digital collection of children’s books selected from the Library's collections. These will include classic works that are still read by children today and lesser-known treasures drawn from the Library’s extensive collection of historically significant children’s books.
To recognize and promote this new digital collection, as well as Children’s Book Week, local authors and illustrators will each read a book from the historical collection for a public read-a-thon. Join the conversation on Twitter with #BookWeek100.
