I traveled to Riga for only 4 days and managed to see and do a lot in that short given timeframe. Riga is the largest city of the Baltics and offers a lot of cool things to do in Riga itself but also just a short train ride out of the center in Sigulda.
This video showcases the combination of a city trip and and action packed day out in the nature. My personal highlight has been the flight in the vertical wind tunnel Aerodium near Sigulda - if you feel like you can even go Bungee Jumping there.

Riga from the waters - Latvia 4K Travel Channel
The old town of Riga is bordered to the west by the Daugava, the other three sides by the City Canal, Pilsetas Kanals, which served as a moat in the Middle Ages. Presumably, this is a former tributary of the Daugava, before the channel was expanded for defense purposes.
We go to the Latvian National Opera, where we have seen a pier for small excursion boats because we do not want to miss a boat trip in Riga.
We quickly board one of the boats that is preparing for the departure. After only a few meters, it goes into the underworld. The canal passes right under the Stockmann shopping center. Then it goes along the market hall to the Daugava. On the right hand is the bus station, from where we will continue our journey within the next days. Once again we cross some bridges, then we reach the river Daugava. A stand-up paddler turns his rounds here.
The journey continues downstream, past the city center. Once again, we can enjoy the panorama view of the city. Even a Viking longboat crosses our course.
After the Vansu Bridge, the cruise terminal comes to the right hand. But when we pass by, there is no ship at anchor. We circumnavigate the pier and arrive in the port for sports boats. Restaurants and little bars show that it also is also a place of excursions.
The boat turns back into the City Canal. The canal meanders through a beautiful park landscape. Passing the National Theater, the boat heads south. To the west, at the edge of the park, there are a number of embassies, which is why one also speaks of the diplomatic quarter. Passing by, we see the Freedom Monument, which we want to visit afterward.
When the National Opera is in sight, we know that our boat trip comes to the end.
From the landing stage, it is only a short walk to the Freedom Monument. Here we watch the perfectly patrolling of guard soldiers for a while.
We still go some meters along the Brivibas iela to the Russian Orthodox Cathedral and take a look inside.
