Yalumba | Steeple Vineyard Barossa Shiraz | Jane Ferrari
Yalumba Storyteller Jane Ferrari loves coming home to the Barossa and the Steeple Barossa Shiraz vineyard is one of her favourite spots to visit. Here’s what Jane had to say about this very special place on the Valley floor…
“Often times, folks say to me, What's the one word you use to describe Shiraz? I reckon, generous.
This is one of the most generous, lush vineyards that we work with. These 13 rows were planted in 1919, so are 99 years old this year. And they developed this X factor, this depth of flavour and this lushness of palette, and I love it to bits.
This is one of my favourite vineyards. This is the Steeple.
Oh, why the Steeple? Because over my right shoulder here is the Light Pass Lutheran Church, and it's almost like a landmark for smack-bang in the middle of the valley floor. That's your Steeple Vineyard.”
Video Newsletter-Schild Barossa Valley Shiraz 2007
Max and Felipe show you a 93 Point Wine, The Schild Estate Barossa Shiraz. This wine is another fine example of a classic regional style from this renowned area. A true expression of generous Shiraz, this wine exudes great presence, lingering flavours and all the hallmarks of a premium Barossa drop.
Polished and generous, offering a racy mouthful of tobacco-accented cherry and black currant fruit that finishes with an edge of dried sage, licorice and fresh cream. This lingers impressively, showing amazing depth for the price. Drink now through 2017.--Wine Spectator Top 100 #43
