Vung Tau Sightseeings
VUNG TAU BEACHES: Vung Tau is an old port, and the first Vietnamese area to be visited by local vacationers. It is located on a 110 sq. km area, 125 km south-east of Ho Chi Minh city. With an average temperature of 28oC and 20 km of beautiful coastline, it's no wonder that it's a popular spot. Vung Tau have five beaches scattered over the peninsula.
Bai Truoc - Front Beach: Bai Truoc is also known as Bai Tam Duong. Tam Duong means searching for the sun. The beach is located between Nui Lon mountain and Nui Nho mountain.
From far, the beach is shaped like a crescent moon, and along the beach, there are many coconut trees. Not a clean beach for swimming, it has many kiosks, open-air restaurants and bars and it is the beach closest to urban Vung Tau.
Bai Sau - Rear Beach: Bai Sau is also known as Bai Thuy Van. This stretch of beach is located in the southeast side of town and is about 10 km in length from the base of Nui Nho. The most popular beach in Vung Tau, it is packed with Saigonese every weekend during the summer months. Teenagers arrive on scooters (3 hrs travel), locals by mini-van or bus (2 hrs) and affluent tourists by hydro-foil boats (1 1/2 hr). The sea is calm during the rainy season but there are frequent periods of high winds and big waves during the dry season. Strong undertow currents make swimming dangerous in some spots.
Bai Dua - Pineapple Beach: Historically known for its wild pineapple trees and black rocks, Bai Dua is located at the foot of Nui Nho Mountain. It is the smallest of the four major beaches in Vung Tau but very popular for its calm waters and its majestic sunset.
Bai Dua is also known as Huong Phuong beach. Visitors come to this rocky cove for its tranquility and cleanliness.
Paradise Beach: In 1994, a Taiwanese conglomerate paid a large sum of money to the Vietnamese government for the right to build a theme park with private beach on the northern end of Bai Sau.
This beach, not too aptly named Paradise Beach, is open to the public but requires an entrance fee. Everything here costs twice as much as at the other beaches. It is populated mostly with group tourists from other Asian countries.
Vung Tau Beach - The Best Holidays with Luxury Travel
Vung Tau beach was located just a 100km south-east of Saigon, this bustling city has the ocean on three sides, salty but fresh air, sandy beach and many coastal activities to make this an ideal holiday destination for you.
The water was so blue and clean which makes you want to jump into it to beat the summer heat. The sand is beautiful with colorful umbrella and beach couches lined up. Everything is well-organized like what you usually see on the travel magazines.
Where will we go to in Vung Tau
There are many places to see and things to do when you travel to Vung Tau, the city even claims to be the first vacation spot of South Vietnam... You can expect to swim in the jewel blue sea or go hiking to the top of the mountain to catch a glimpse of the beautiful city. Making a decision of where to go can be tough so let us give you a hand. Here are some main places you should put on your itinerary.
• Bai Trước (Front Beach) is right in the middle of Vung Tau Beach and stands between the Big and Small Mount. It is a popular place and people also often gather to see the sunset.
• Bai Sau (Back Beach) is the main beach for tourism in Vung Tau Beach. It is 3 kilometres in length long and runs between the Small Mount to Paradise Park.
• Bai Dua (Pineapple Beach) is a little beach off Halong street by the Small Mount.
• Bai Dau (Mulberry Beach) is another little beach to the west of Big Mount.
The latter two are accessible by going down from an elevated position above from which there are lovely views. Incidentally, the city’s lighthouse is another place that gives a view right across the Vung Tau. There are lovely pagodas to visit as well as colonial architecture built by the French well over a century ago.
Vung Tau Beach offers everything a tourist enjoying a coastal holiday would want. You can go sailing, or involve yourself in water sports by day and enjoy the well-developed nightlife when the sun sets. That means excellent fresh seafood, bars and clubs. It is tiring enjoying yourself so you may not want a late night, especially if you want to make the most of the daylight hours.

Suspense: Crime Without Passion / The Plan / Leading Citizen of Pratt County
A crime of passion, or crime passionnel, in popular usage, refers to a violent crime, especially murder, in which the perpetrator commits the act against someone because of sudden strong impulse such as sudden rage or heartbreak rather than as a premeditated crime. The act, as is suggested by the name (crime passionnel - from French language) is often associated with the history of France. However, such crimes have existed and continue to exist in most cultures.
A crime of passion refers to a criminal act in which the perpetrator commits a crime, especially murder or assault, against someone because of sudden strong impulse such as sudden rage or heartbreak rather than as a premeditated crime. A typical crime of passion might involve an aggressive pub-goer who assaults another guest following an argument or a husband who discovers his wife has made him a cuckold and proceeds to brutally batter or even kill his wife and the man with whom she was involved.
In the United States civil courts, a crime of passion is referred to as temporary insanity. This defense was first used by U.S. Congressman Daniel Sickles of New York in 1859 after he had killed his wife's lover, Philip Barton Key, but was most used during the 1940s and 1950s.
In some countries, notably France, crime passionnel (or crime of passion) was a valid defense during murder cases; during the 19th century, some cases could be a custodial sentence for two years for the murderer, while the spouse was dead; this ended in France as the Napoleonic code was updated in the 1970s so that a specific father's authority upon his whole family was over.

Words at War: Soldier To Civilian / My Country: A Poem of America
Russell Wheeler Davenport (1899—April 19, 1954) was an American publisher and writer.
Davenport was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the son of Russell W. Davenport, Sr., a vice president of Bethlehem Steel, and Cornelia Whipple Farnum.
He served with the U.S. Army in World War I and received the Croix de Guerre. He then enrolled at Yale University and graduated in 1923, where he was classmate of Henry Luce and Briton Hadden, who founded Time magazine. While at Yale he became a member of the secret society Skull and Bones. In 1929, he married the writer Marcia Davenport; they divorced in 1944. He joined the editorial staff of Fortune magazine in 1930 and became managing editor in 1937.
At age forty-one, he turned to politics and became a personal and political advisor to Wendell Willkie. Willkie was the Republican nominee for the 1940 presidential election and lost the election to Franklin D. Roosevelt. After Willkie's death in 1944, Davenport became a defacto leader of the internationalist Republicans.
Following World War II, he was on the staff of Life and Time until 1952. His book The Dignity of Man was published posthumously in 1955.
