MUST TRY Street Food in VIETNAM | UNIQUE Vietnamese Food in HANOI, Vietnam
Today's episode 5 was filmed on a Sunday. We usually start our day with church and explore the area more. We headed first to the West lake for a morning service. And then we went to the French Quarter to check out some interesting stuff. We came across a local street where there are small eateries. We were very hungry so we decided to try their food. It was our first time seeing and trying all the foods below:
1. Quail Salad - my first time to eat quail. It tasted as if it was marinated in a sweet salty sauce. It was pretty good!
I wanted more of the meat though. The downside is, like frogs, it has more bones than meat. But overall, tasty and a
good protein to go with a salad. If it has more meat, I will definitely eat it with rice.
2. Beef Salad - by the looks and actual texture of the beef, I assumed that it has been dried. It's seasoned enough to go well
with fresh vegetables and nuoc mam.
3. Fried Sweet Potato & Shrimp Fritters - the moment I saw them frying these golden fritters, I knew it would taste familiar
as it looks. And I was right when I tried it. It's similar to the Filipino Shrimp Okoy. Simple and straightforward. The main
difference with the dipping sauce is very notable anywhere in Vietnam. Instead of vinegar, it's fish sauce.
4. Shrimp Tapioca Dumplings - I have tried so many different kinds of dumplings but not this. The wrapper is uniquely and
interestingly chewy. The filling is supposed to be shrimp but I don't taste much of it. I think it's mixed with minced pork
and dried mushrooms. For me, it's all about the tapioca wrapper.
Overall, it was a good experience. We have tried completely new dishes in a very local community. The owner and staff were
very friendly. It was a great and memorable lunch for me. It wasn't very filling though. We only had salads and snacks. We
didn't even eat rice(which we always do) so we are still quite hungry. So we kept on walking around until we find an interesting
snack. Then we stopped by a small crepe stall and ordered the following:
1. Smoked Chicken & Cheese Crepe - the chicken was indeed smoky, a little chewy, but very flavorul. Cheese was ok. I like the
spicy sauce mixed into it which coats every corner of the crepe.
2. Banana & Honey Crepe - first bite and I knew it was something for kids and kids at heart. Sweet and comforting. You can
have it either for breakfast or dessert. Simple and straightforward.
3. Iced Tea - a cheap powdered iced tea. It tastes like how you would imagined it to be.
We continued walking until we got thirsty. Aside from cafes in Hanoi, you will see a lot of juice and sugar cane stalls.
We stopped over to buy 2 drinks:
1. Pomelo Juice - Fresh and cold, sour and bitter on the finish. Really refreshing!
2. Orange Pineapple Juice - Fresh and cold. I like the natural sweet taste of the two fruits combined. So good!
After finishing the drinks, we went home to rest a little bit. We decided to cook aglio olio pasta and order kfc chicken
for dinner. We love cooking at home. Aside from it being cheap, we enjoy the time we spend cooking and eating together.
It brings joy to all of us. Then, we ended the night with a movie.
And that's it for Episode 5! I hope you liked the vlog style so far. Let me know what you think in the comments. And I will
see you in Episode 6!

The best food in the world | South Vietnam | Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City
Vietnamese cooking and its recipes? Who does not know it? It seduces everyone with its freshness, subtle aromas and delicate tastes.
The Vietnamese gastronomy is often presented in the foreign media. According to The New York Times, she is even the new culinary star of Asia », one of the top 10 cuisines in the world. Vietnam's restaurants and gastronomic festivals abroad attract more and more people, and the number of foreign tourists coming to Vietnam to learn how to cook increases. Some even come to learn how to open a Vietnamese restaurant.
The Vietnamese use a lot of herbs and vegetables, which is excellent for health. These give a special flavor to the dishes. Not too spicy like Thai ones, or bold like Chinese, Vietnamese dishes are suitable for foreign customers.
The sauce is also an essential factor, indispensable to dishes. There is the nuoc mam or the soy sauce, and many others. What's also interesting is to taste the dishes on the streets, they are all hot, very good and the price does not exceed three dollars. All you have to do is to sit on a small stool and order what locals order.
But there are also a number of very good 'gastronomic' restaurants in big cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh where fine food is offered in the image of the country.
Breakfast usually includes Pho (beef or chicken) or sticky rice.
A typical lunch is composed of 3 courses: rice-vegetables-pork or fish.
Dinner is composed as lunch or as breakfast.
All the dishes are brought at the same time on the table and each one serves in his small bowl.
In menus, there are always meat and fish, it is the principle of Ying and Yang.
Dessert is rare and dessert pastry is even rarer. End-of-meal sweets are in the form of confit seeds such as lotus seeds, white beans, corn, served with crushed ice and bathed in coconut milk. The lotus being the symbol par excellence of Buddhism. Banana, pineapple, watermelon, passion fruit, dragon fruit, jackfruit, mango, are the fruits served in dessert.
Green tea is served at any time and on any occasion.
The coffee served by the cup serves with an individual filter. It flows slowly and the cup is kept warm by a small bowl filled with hot water that serves as a bain-marie.
Fresh fruit juices.
The beers, Bia Hanoi or Saigon Bia are the classic drinks table.
3 large cuisines characterize Vietnam:
In the north: the cuisine is more salty than in the other regions with an important place given to the soups, the grills (meat of beef). Green vegetables are eaten firm, scalded and fried. The pho is the dish that best symbolizes the specialty of the northern region.
In the center: the cuisine is sweet sour, and more spicy.
In the south: the cuisine is sweeter than in other regions and often based on coconut milk.
It is rich in mint, basil, coriander smells.
The most commonly used fruits are green bananas, coconuts and carambola.
One of the south vietnam specialties is the nêm and the spring roll.

Gandang NegOrense 2019 - Grand Launching and Press Presentation | Gerome and David of G&D Blog
What a great day for us?!
We started our Sunday by looking around for furniture and stuff for our apartment. Yes! Finally, we will have our turn over...soon! ????
It was weird, 'coz when I was filming, my camera warned me that the memory card was full already. After 40 videos, in a 128GB-memory card, like 2-3 minutes per videos, memory full. What???
So, we had no choice but to get another memory card while we were at Robinson's Place- Dumaguete.
Our main goal was to look around for some appliances inside the mall, but of course, this mall always has surprises. We found this event called Gandang NegOrense 2019- Grand Launching and Press Presentation. A beauty pageant of 15 Transgender Women from different local government units of Negros Oriental, including our local unit where we are currently residing- Bacong. ✌????????
This fabulous and prestigious event is part of the upcoming Buglasan Festival 2019 which will be happening on October.
David and I learned a lot from these contestants. They talked about everything LGBTQA+ community-related issues- from the SOGIE Bill, to HIV/STD issues, depression, prostitution, education, morality, equality, and more.
We were also surprised with the opinions and perspectives of these transgender women with these issues- which just gives us this thought that being in the LGBTQA+ community, we need to support and respect each other starting with ourselves and within the community first.
After giving their speeches and answers from the panel of judges' questions, they announced their top 5 finalists who will battle against the crown on the grand coronation night which will be happening on the 20th of October at the Freedom Park in Dumaguete City.
David and I need to be there, 'coz we're starting to feel like we're locals already here in Negros Oriental island. ????

Black Girl Vlog: Typical Morning Starts With 10k Steps At The Best Place To Workout In Hanoi Vietnam
In today's vlog I'm working on my fitness! I started a new goal to take 10k steps a day anf so far it's going good. My first stop was at the Hanoi Botanical Garden in Vietnam, then I headed to the post office to pick up my keys for my P.O. Box! I 'm super excited I finally was able to get one. (Check below for Po Box deets) I also share how you can set up your own P.O. Box if you're ever in Vietnam. After I had a delicious moment with a pineapple I got from one of the local Vietnamese street vendors right before I headed home for what I thought would be a cooking session but instead turned in to a GWRM + Jam session! All in all I say it was a great day!
