Driving around Pinecrest, Florida near Miami
Pinecrest is an affluent suburban village in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States of America.
Rapid growth and local issues during the 1990s inspired a movement led by residents Evelyn Greer Langlieb and Gary C. Matzner to incorporate the area. The Village of Pinecrest was officially incorporated on March 12, 1996. Evelyn Greer was elected the first mayor and was succeeded, after serving two terms, by Matzner in 2004. The founding Village Council, including Greer, Cindie Blanck, Barry Blaxberg, Leslie Bowe, Robert Hingston, together with Village Manager Peter G. Lombardi and Village Clerk Guido Inguanzo, are credited with establishing well-regarded municipal services including police, parks and recreation, building and planning services, and public works.
Must See Miami - Pinecrest Gardens
If you've lived in Miami a long time, you may recognize this special place as the old Parrot Jungle. There is so much to tell you about Pinecrest Gardens, but I think Alana does the best job of doing that.

Coconut Grove, Bohemia By the Bay
Coconut Grove, Bohemia By the Bay
►Read the blog:
In this episode, produced especially for The Welcome Channel, David takes viewers around the historic neighborhood of Coconut Grove in his hometown of Miami, Florida. If you've ever wondered what you can do, see, or eat in this bohemian neighborhood, just watch and learn!
The Grove, as the locals like to call it, is an area known for historic landmarks like the beautiful 1920’s Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, and The Kampong – a beautiful botanical garden where David and his wife got married, and finally The Barnacle State Park. All three are located along the shores of Biscayne Bay.
In the Grove you can keep it as slow or fast-paced as you like. For decades it's been a fantastic place to dine, shop and enjoy the amazing Miami weather. David still enjoys coming here to this day, especially for Sunday brunch. You’ll notice there are less crowds here than in South Beach, which gives it a more relaxed vibe.
Brief History of Coconut Grove
Coconut Grove is Miami’s oldest seaside neighborhood, founded in 1873. More than 140 years later, this bohemian village offers the ideal setting for strolling, shopping, and dining. Located in the heart of Miami, the Grove offers an array of boutiques, sidewalk cafés, and gourmet restaurants, all in a pedestrian-friendly zone that can be enjoyed year round.
You can also enjoy the Coconut Grove waterfront by participating in free yoga classes in Peacock Park, paddle boarding, or heading over to Dinner Key for a boat ride. Virtually everything here exists beneath one lush canopy along Biscayne Bay.

Florida Travel: Visit Coconut Grove in Miami
Part of the City of Miami, Coconut Grove – known to locals as The Grove – is one of the hippest, most energetic, most inviting corners of South Florida. Coconut Grove is home to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, elegant hotels, the Miami Science Museum, and CocoWalk, a shopping and dining district. Many special events are held in Coconut Grove throughout the year, though the most special might be the annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival, scheduled each February to occur during President's Day weekend. The three-day event glitters as one of Florida's most vibrant outdoor art festivals, highlighting works of hundreds of artists. You also can enjoy live entertainment and The Grove's lush tropical landscape.

During my third day in Jackson, Mississippi the City with Soul I experienced some amazing soul food and I went museum hopping. We started the day eating breakfast at Estelle Wine Bar & Bistro in the Westin Jackson.
Next up we passed by the Mississippi State Capitol building on the way to the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. It was an intense and emotional museum experience!
For lunch I hit up Bully's Restaurant for some delicious soul food! I ate some fried catfish and pork neck bones! It was really really good!
From there we visited Medgar Evers House. Medgar Wiley Evers was an African American civil rights activist in Mississippi and the state's field secretary of the NAACP. His historic house museum was built in 1956, it was the home until his murder in 1963.
To end the night we headed back to Johnny T's Bistro and Blues on Farish Street for some delicious food. We had so many things:
-Shrimp & Toast
-Shrimp & Grits
-Chicken Wings
-Lamb Chops
