Snowboarding at Pippu Ski Resort, one of the resorts I visited during my second trip to Japan.
Pippu is a small resort about 40 minutes away from Asahikawa, my home base for Week 1. More so than Kamui, this place falls in between a resort and a local's ski hill. I saw a few hundred folks that day. I'm guessing about 10 of us were there for leisure, while the rest were either students in ski school or military, riding in packs along the groomers. No one was to be found in the trees or hitting the powder on the side of the run, so despite there not being any major snowfall the few days before, there were still plenty of freshies to be found!
After riding I visited Pippu Onsen only a short walk away. It was the best onsen I've visited so far in Japan.
