10 Craziest Facts about PIRANHAS
LINK TO BE AMAZED CHANNEL ( MAKE SURE TO SUBSCRIBE!)
When we think about swimming in freshwater lakes and ponds, we rarely give a thought about the animals that may lurk within it. But one thing’s for sure, we don’t want to be caught in a situation with a shoal of hungry piranhas.
#10 Replaceable Teeth
You’ve no idea how similar piranhas are when compared to sharks. With teeth that are often compared to the sharpness of blades, Piranhas too are capable of replacing their teeth regularly throughout their lifespan.
#9 Insanely Strong Bite
Certain species of piranhas possess some of the strongest bite strength amongst any animal in history. The black piranha is capable of exerting a bite force of up to 320 Newtons or around 30 times its body weight on its unsuspecting victims. That's a more powerful bite relative to weight than any animal in history... even the T-Rex! Looks like these creatures are truly capable of “biting more than they can chew”.
#8 Humans Don’t Form a Part of Their Diet
Contrary to movies and folklore, piranhas don’t go around eating humans, much less a live one. Unless starved, piranhas would rarely take a bite out of a human without being provoked.
#7 Cannibalism Exists in These Savages
The main diet of piranhas usually consists of other fishes, worms and insects. However, if starved and left with no other choice, certain species of piranhas may resort to eating their fellow shoal mates regardless of whether they are living or not.
#6 Vegetarian Piranhas
Thankfully, not all piranhas are blood thirsty savages, with a small number of species like the Tometes Camunani that survives on riverweeds only. Another freshwater fish, the Pacu, which are related to the Piranha also eat nuts that fall from trees with their humanoid teeth.
#5 Piranhas Are Capable of Barking
Well at least that was what they sounded like they were trying to do when researches stuck a probe in their living spaces. The red-bellied piranha, one of the deadliest species of piranhas, is even capable of producing three distinct barks through its swim bladder that are associated with aggressive behaviours.
#4 Piranhas Soup
In an odd twist of fate, some piranhas are caught by humans and made into soups and other delicacies by grilling and frying them. In fact, the piranha soup is extremely popular in the Pantanal region of Brazil where it is served on a banana leaf, with a nice tomato and lime garnish.
#3 Only 3 out of 60 Species of Piranhas Are Dangerous to Humans
More specifically, the black shoulder, red-bellied and San Francisco Piranhas are considered dangerous to us because of their voracious appetite and craving for fresh meat. Therefore most of them are pretty much harmless, unless you're fisherman trying to catch some catfish, in which case they're merely a pain as they always seal bait. Thats why they fish for cats at night in the amazon.
#2 They Travel in Shoals for Safety
Who would think that a group of meat eating fishes would travel in groups just for their safety? Truth is, these creatures are more prey than predators, with animals such as river dolphins and crocodiles feeding on them regularly. As such, travelling in a group would allow the piranhas to protect the older fishes who tend to stay towards the centre of the shoal.
#1 A Shoal of Piranhas Could Devour a Cow in Minutes
Stemming first from former American President Theodore Roosevelt’s tale of how a group of piranhas devoured the carcass of a cow, it has since been proven that a group of 500 piranhas could easily strip the flesh off a cow within five minutes. In fact, if the piranhas were starved beforehand, they could enter a feeding frenzy and easily bite anything within range – including each other.
Ending
With all these terrifying facts about piranhas, you’d better ask about the animals lurking in the water before taking a dip in a local freshwater source. What are some crazy stories you’ve heard of piranhas wreaking havoc?

You might wonder how dangerous they really are? This video will show you how fast they’ve eaten a raw chicken. That raw chicken was all gone within a minute, maybe less than a minute!
Let me explain you about Piranha a bit. They’re member of Family Characidae. They’re ominvorous freshwater fish that inhabits South American rivers. In Venezuela, they’re called caribes. They’re well known for their sharp teeth and powerful jaws.
To elaborate how powerful their jaws are, piranhas have one of the strongest bites found in bony fishes. Relative to body mass, the black piranha (Serrasalmus rhombeus) produces one of the most forceful bites measured in vertebrates. This extremely powerful bite is generated by large jaw muscles (adductor mandibulae) that are attached closely to the tip of the jaw, conferring the piranha with a mechanical advantage that favors force production over bite speed. Strong jaws combined with finely serrated teeth make them adept at tearing flesh.
(Based on my research, I've seen some victims losing their limbs, hands, or even killed). Be careful if you’re currently traveling in South America!
Enjoy watching this video!

Amazing Viral Brazil : piranhas devour a bull's head at breakneck speed
Brazil: piranhas devour a bull's head at breakneck speed
Piranha attacks are common in South America. To demonstrate the dangerousness of these marine predators, a fisherman did an experiment by diving a bull's head into the Amazon. In a few seconds, hundreds of piranhas will rush and devour the head at a crazy speed.
On the banks of the Amazon in Brazil, a man was filmed holding the carcass of a bull's head out of the water. Within 40 seconds, piranhas will rush on to devour the head.
In general, these fish gather to attack larger prey. Piranhas do not automatically attack living beings, but only in the presence of blood in the water, and this to several tens of meters.
Piranhas are carnivorous fish known for their extreme voracity. A video posted shows the incredible speed with which they shred a head of beef.
Predacious carnivorous fish
Piranha attacks are commonplace in Latin America. Every year, dozens of people are injured by the sharp teeth of these predatory fish that infest the rivers of Brazil. The toes and fingers of children regularly pay the price. And last year, a six-year-old girl nearly lost her life after a swarm of these fish melted on her as she took a walk with her family on the Rio Maicuru River in the Monte Alegre region.
A video recorded in the Amazon, in central Brazil, and posted on YouTube shows the incredible speed with which piranhas eat their prey. These fish always move in schools to attack animals much bigger than them. A fisherman, who probably wanted to have a clear heart, plunged an ox's head into the water. The images are self-explanatory.
Contrary to what many people fear, piranhas do not systematically attack live animals. They react rather to a presence of blood in the water. These fish are equipped with very powerful olfactory organs that allow them to detect an open wound or a piece of meat several tens of meters.
As can be seen from these images recorded on the Amazon, piranhas always gather in schools to attack prey bigger than them. Marine predators will devour a bull's head at a crazy speed. The man, who has not protected his hands, holds the carcass a few inches out of the water to avoid a tragedy.
With incredible speed, these piranhas will literally devour the head of a bull. Unbelievable viral video

12 Bizarre Discoveries in the Amazon
Our planet offers a great flora and fauna. Especially the amazon is the home for various different kind of animals. Here are some of the most bizarre discoveries in the amazon.
Subscribe to World5List
Bizarre Amazon Discoveries
If you’re venturing to a part of the world with the most unique species of animal on the planet, you’re probably in for some interesting finds. Coming up… Gigantic snakes, parasitic fish, running lizards, and more. Join us as we explore some of the most bizarre Amazon discoveries.
Caiman
To start things off, the apex predator of the Amazon river is a strange creature, but it’s by no means safe from other predators in this intense jungle. The black caiman is essentially a gigantic alligator.
Green Anaconda
With all of the biodiversity and incredibly variations of flora and fauna in the Amazon, it’s not surprising to find that the largest snake in the world calls this place home.
Arapaima
If you’re worried about swimming in piranha infested waters, you might reevaluate your list of fears with our next discovery. The Arapaima is a carnivorous fish that takes up just a bit more space than the piranhas.
Giant Otter
When you see a family of otters playing around in a river, or even the ocean, often you first thought might be “how cute.” This is at least partly because the otters are small. The amazon is home to the largest species of this marine mammal, the aptly-titled “giant otter.”
Candiru
Not everything that’s terrifying in the amazon is giant… though admittedly, most creatures are. The candiru are tiny parasitic fish that work to latch themselves onto larger fish’s gills to feast.
Bull Sharks
When you’re spending all of your time worrying about the dangers of the Amazon, you might not get to fully experience the beauty and importance of the river...
Electric Eels
Okay, so now you’re getting concerned about being bitten, strangled, or crushed. Another, much less conventional thing to worry about with regards to Amazonian animals.
Glass Frog
Camouflage is a useful survival tactic for creatures that get fed upon, but sometimes in the Amazon this technique leads to interesting consequences. The glass frog is technically green, but if you were to see a specimen, that’s probably not the first thing you’d think.
Decoy Building spider
When threatened, many creatures on the planet like to make themselves look big, so as to scare away would-be predators. Cats raise their backs, some lizards flatten themselves, eben humans are told to look big when faced with bears.
Piranha
No matter where you go in the world, it’s hard to beat the classic, bizarre discoveries. The red bellied piranha is the original fear in the semi-deep river, and despite the Hollywood hype, these little guys aren’t as as all that.
Jesus Lizard
Many creatures discovered in the Amazon walk, and many live in the water, but very few do both at once. The Jesus lizard is one of the stranger inhabitants of this wild wonderland and it’s a sight to behold.
Pink Dolphin
At this point you might be thinking that nothing else that lives in the Amazon could be much of a surprise, considering the rest of this list. Well, the most famous inhabitant of the Amazon River would be unique and bizarre if found in the ocean, where most of its relatives dwell. Found in this river, it’s an absolute marvel.

Anaconda in the Amazon Jungle
Hello everybody. This is a video I am not particularly proud of. Looking back in time this is a thing I wouldn't do now and I regret doing. Both fishing the piranhas or annoying the anaconda were stupidities that violated animals. Now I am learning more about the rights of animals and trying to respect nature in every possible way. Cheers to all and sorry for the disturbing images

Thanks to Guilherme ( for taking us around Brazil. #Brazil #Amazon #AmazonFood
MANAUS, BRAZIL - During my food trip to Brazil there was no place I wanted to visit more than the Amazon Rainforest. We flew to Manaus (if you look at a map, Manaus is directly in the heart center of the Amazon). The jungle, the unique dishes and fruits, and the people made it incredible.
Exotic fruit tasting - One of the things that you have to do when you’re in Brazil, especially in the Amazon is sample all the unique and indigenous fruits of the region, some that are only available there. We started with mari-mari, an amazing long pod fruit and have inga (ice cream bean fruit) and biribá - wild sugar apple. All the fruit - 10 BRL ($2.55)
Manaus is a pretty big city, especially for being in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest. They have a big market, full of fruits, vegetables and fish. We headed straight for some tucumã, a type of palm tree fruit that’s essential in the local diet.
Jenipapo - Along the way we also tried some jenipapo, a pretty unique fruit.
Tucumã sandwiches - Sandwich shop owners better take note! Tucumã sandwiches are a true Amazonian food and they are delicious. Along with the palm fruit they were paired with cheese and fried sweet banana. It’s a perfect breakfast and way to start the day in the Amazon. Price - about 10 BRL ($2.55) per sandwich
Tambaqui fish - Tambaqui is a fish from the Amazon that’s known for having ribs - seriously almost like pork ribs. We decided to get a fish to bring to the village since we weren’t sure what they’d have al the village.
Amazon village - We didn’t really have a plan, we were just going to find a boat driver and ask him to take us to a village and see if anyone could cool. So we got a boat, and our boat driver asked if they were home and if we could invite ourselves in. We arrived completely unplanned and unannounced and it turned out to be an outstanding learning experience and fun time with an amazing family in the Amazon.
Along with the food we brought, the family mixed up about 4 different exotic drinks - some of them known in the Western world as ingredients in trendy energy drinks - but here in the Amazon of Brazil they are consumed regularly.
It was such an awesome Brazilian Amazonian food meal with the family followed by a time of drumming and dancing, football, and finally a swim in the river. It was an extraordinary day in the Amazon of Brazil.
