South Ireland: Waterford to the Ring of Kerry
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | We find the icons of Ireland strewn along its fascinating south coast: Waterford's much-loved crystal factory, the Kennedy family homestead, the Dunbrody Famine Ship, and Kinsale's star-shaped fortresses. After kissing the Blarney Stone, we visit elegant Muckross House. Then we savor the scenic charms of the Emerald Isle by driving the Ring of Kerry. © 2002 Rick Steves' Europe
TALL SHIPS - WATERFORD 2005
Waterford City, where Vikings landed, a city with a proud maritime history, where once tall ships were built, welcomed 100 vessels from 21 countries, to the Tall Ships Race 2005.
Tom MacSweeney presents this special feature from Waterford where the sights of the port of old have been recreated as over ninety tall ships arrive on the quayside for the festivities celebrating the start of the Tall ships race.
This excerpt from the programme includes a report by Eoin Ryan documenting the history of the Tall Ships Race and previous visits to Ireland Cork in 1991 and Dublin in 1998. In Cork the event was known as the Cutty Sark Race, while in Dublin the event drew the largest crowds ever with 1.2 million people visiting the ships along the River Liffey.
Over 400,000 people came to Waterford over five days making it one of the biggest events ever staged in the city ending with a fireworks display on the last night.
The ‘Parade of Sail’ saw the ships head out of Waterford to the start before racing to Cherbourg. Maritime history is made in Ireland with the three Irish Tall Ships The Dunbrody, The Jennie Johnson & The Asgard leading the parade of sail.
The Tall Ships Race took place in Waterford in July 2005.

Joy's 1st Swim in Ireland - 27 June 2009
Went for a swim on Kilfarrasy Beach one evening (round 8.00pm), Joy at first didn't want to get in the water cause it was WAY colder than the water at the beaches in the Philippines, eventually I managed to get her into it though.
