SUNDAY PISAC MARKET | Sacred Valley of the Incas | Cusco Day Trip to Pisac Peru
Part 1 of our day trip to Pisac, Peru.
Today, we boarded a colectivo (shared bus) to do one of the most popular Cusco Day Trips, a day visit to Pisac Market. This Cusco to Pisac ride costs only 5 Peruvian Soles, or less than 1.50 USD!
The Market in Pisac is considered to be one of the must visits in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It's the the biggest market in the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Due to its popularity, this market in Pisac happens three times a week (Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays). But the Sunday Pisac Market is still the best day to experience this colorful place.
At 11 am, they have a Catholic mass at the Iglesia de San Pedro Apostol, the main church in Pisac. The mass is in the Quechua language, and locals show up in colorful traditional Andean clothing.
We also visited the Horno Colonial San Francisco, one of the communal ovens in town. It is a clay oven, mainly to cook cui (guinea pig) or empanadas. A very interesting scene to check out in Pisaq!

In Pisac, near Cusco in the Sacred Valley in Peru every Sunday morning a colorful market takes place. Indigenous Indians come from surrounding villages to sell fruits, vegetables, flowers, clothing and many other items. Although tourists are around it is still very much a local affair.

Pisac Market is a large, traditional outdoor market that’s spread out over a sunny main square of Pisac. Pisac market days used to only be Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, but since it’s gotten so popular, the market typically takes place in some form every day of the week. It’s sometimes referred to as Pisac “indian” market, as many of the locals refer to themselves as indios, in reference to their indigenous heritage. We started in Lima and then to Paracas, Nazca, Arequipa, the Collca canyon, Puno, lake Titicaca,
Cuzco (Urubamba valley) and finally 9 days to the Manu national park.

Pisac, Peru - Part 1
Písac or P'isaq (Quechua for Nothoprocta, also spelled p'isaqa) is a Peruvian village in the Sacred Valley. It is situated at the Willkanuta River. Pisac is most known for it's Incan ruins and large market every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday, an event which attracts heavy tourist traffic from nearby Cusco.
