Tring Circular Walk - 20.6 KM | May 2018 | ENGLAND
Tring to Berkhamsted which was a 20.6km walk was both refreshing and appealing to our eyes. A nice place to get out of the hustles and bustles of London.
The walk takes you through beautiful woodlands with stunning vistas at every turn, greeneries, historical places and farmland.
There are some nice places for picnic spots along the way etc Pitstone Hill, Bridgewater Monument
You can climb the monument for a small fee from 1pm to 5pm April to October for fine views over the countryside.
By Train: London Euston to Tring.
There is also one train an hour from East Croydon and Clapham Junction via Shepherd's Bush

Harvest Time ~ An English Summer Evening In The Chiltern Hills
Pitstone (formerly Pightelsthorn, with possible variation Pychelesthorn in 1399 [2]) is a village and civil parish within the Aylesbury Vale district of Buckinghamshire, England. It is located at the foot of the Chiltern Hills, about seven miles east of Aylesbury and six miles south of Leighton Buzzard. It directly adjoins the village of Ivinghoe, and the two villages share a number of their facilities.
The village name is Anglo Saxon in origin, and means 'Picel's Pitstone was given to the abbey at Ashridge by the Earl of Cornwall in 1283. In 1290 King Edward I spent Christmas in Pitstone at the estate that had been given to the abbey, and stayed for five weeks, during which time he held parliament in Ashridge. His stay caused great inconvenience to the local inhabitants of the village, who were legally obliged to keep the king and his court.
A notable building nearby is Pitstone Windmill, which is owned by the National Trust. The windmill was formerly capable of rotating to face the prevailing wind, as evidenced by the wheel protruding from one side of the structure. Although it no longer retains this capacity, the wheel remains in place and the pivot point of the windmill is clearly visible.
Pitstone Hill, above the village, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, designated for its botanical interest. The hill is crossed by the Ridgeway National Trail.

The Chiltern Hills form a chalk escarpment in South East England. They are known locally as the Chilterns. A large portion of the hills was designated officially as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1965.
The Chilterns cover an area of 833 km2 (322 sq mi) and are 18 km (11 mi) at their widest and stretch 74 km (46 mi) in a southwest to northeast diagonal from Goring-on-Thames in Oxfordshire, through Buckinghamshire, via Dunstable Downs and Deacon Hill in Bedfordshire, to near Hitchin in Hertfordshire.[1]
The boundary of the hills is clearly defined on the northwest side by the scarp slope. The dip slope, by its nature, merges with the landscape to the southeast.[2] Similarly, the Thames provides a clear terminal to the southwest, whereas northeast of Luton the hills decline slowly in prominence

Ivinghoe is a village and civil parish within Aylesbury Vale
district in Buckinghamshire, England, close to the border with Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. It is four miles north of Tring and six miles south of Leighton Buzzard, close to the village of Pitstone.
Ivinghoe Beacon, near the village, is an ancient beacon, or signal point, which was used in times of crisis to send messages across the country and is now popular with walkers who just want to get exercise and see the view. It used to be used as a site for flying model aeroplanes but has been forbidden due to accidents. The hill is the site of an early Iron age hillfort which during excavations in the 1960s was identified from bronzework finds to date back to the Bronze-Iron transition period between 800-700 BC. Like many other similar hillforts in the Chilterns it is thought to have been occupied for only a short period, possibly less than one generation.
Nearby is Pitstone Windmill, owned by the National Trust.

Ivinghoe Beacon is a prominent hill and landmark in the Chiltern Hills, standing 233 m (757 ft) above sea level.[1] It is situated close to the village of Ivinghoe in Buckinghamshire, the Ashridge Estate, and the villages of Aldbury and Little Gaddesden in Hertfordshire and is managed and owned by the National Trust. Ivinghoe Beacon lies between the towns of Dunstable in Bedfordshire, and Berkhamsted and Tring in Hertfordshire. It is the starting point of the Icknield Way to the east, and the Ridgeway long-distance path to the west.
Ivinghoe Beacon is a popular spot for walkers, sightseers, and model aircraft enthusiasts, who use lift generated by the wind blowing up the hill – a technique known as slope soaring.

From here a stroll through the beautiful wooded areas before reaching the stunning panoramic views of Beacon Hill. Thr return takes through gorgeous chiltern lowlands before retuning to Aldbudy, which incidentally has got a couple of great Pubs!!

How about a little break from the Balkans vlogs?
Here is a short video of my first proper drone flight done with publishing in mind. This is Ivinghoe Beacon in the Chilterns in Buckinghamshire, England. The video is not perfect and I have a lot to learn about aerial photography and videography, but it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful. Some of it was shot by my husband.

Ivinghoe at Risk – Help!
The village of Ivinghoe, Buckinghamshire, UK, is well known for its many historic buildings, and for the beauty of the surrounding countryside. At the heart of the village is the Lawn, a village green with extensive views into open countryside.
Ivinghoe is now threatened by a planning application to build some 70 houses on agricultural land in the middle of this unique view – a view enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
