West Coast Express 906 Notching Up at Pitt River - 8/8/19
On a recent trip to Canada, I managed to snag my favorite West Coast Express engine leading for the first time on train #1E. I caught it at the west end of Canadian Pacific's Vancouver Intermodal Terminal, just past the Pitt River Swing Bridge in Port Coquitlam. Due to a speed restriction over the bridge, the engineer of 1E put the throttle straight to 8 as soon as they cleared the span to accelerate up to track speed (50 MPH). This accident happened on the Pitt River Bridge. Coquitlam RCMP were conducting a Roadside Counterattack Roadblock at the East end of the bridge. Vehicles had come to a stop waiting to go through the road block when, a vehicle rear-ended into three vehicles. One of the drivers was transported to hospital by BC Ambulance.

One particular rental I secured was bringing in HP Air Compressors for the production of under water bubbles (simulation for fish habitat disruptions) in advance of the demolition phases of the project. The bubbles were a significant part of tests to ensure protection of the vibrant local fish habitat.

Coquitlam Fire Rescue crews, rescued two people and two dogs from Pitt River, after a male fell into the water and struck a log. His female companion then gave him her cloths, because he was suffering from hyperthermia. By the time Coquitlam Rescue crews arrived by boat, both people were hyperthermia . Firefighters transported a male and female with to dogs, to Pitt Lake boat launch. They were then transferred to BCAS ambulances, and transported to hospital
