Travel and History Piyamit Tunnel Betong
The Piyamit Tunnel is a complex near Betong in Yala Province in the South of Thailand. Troops of the Communist Party of Malaya used this complex as a base to fight against the government of Malaysia until the late 80s.

Exploring the surroundings of the Piyamit tunnel with the goddess of mercy statue and also some shops selling souvenirs. The journey to the tunnel via stairs took around 20 minutes uphill walk.

PIYAMIT TUNNEL - THE MALAYA COMMUNIST BASE CAMP. LOCATED ON THE TOP OF THE JUNGLE MOUNTAIN AT BETONG THAILAND.BUILT IN 1977 AND THE TUNNEL LENGHT I KM AND HAVE 5-6 FEET WIDE ,THERE ALLSO HAVE 9 ENTRANCE EXIT PATHS.

Betong is a town in southern Thailand, near the boundary to Malaysia. It is the capital of Betong district, the southernmost district of Yala Province. As of 2005,the town has a population of 24,688.
Piyamit Tunnel
Piyamit Tunnel at Ban Piyamit 1, Tambon Tano Mae Ro. It was once the base of Malaya Communist Division 2. The tunnel was built in three months in 1976, winding through the mountain for about one kilometer, about 50-60 feet wide with multiple entrances. It was used as the air raid shelter and food storage area. It is open to the public from 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
