Plaka, Monastiraki and Psyrri - Athens, Greece ????????
Day 2 of our Greece adventures. We've spent an entire day exploring different neighborhoods of the city. First, we've started with Monastiraki. Lots of shops! Great time to pick up your souvenirs. Then we wandered through the streets of Psyrri - an artistic area of Athens. In the evening we went to Plaka, the oldest area of the city, to check out a local bar. Then we headed to a nearby restaurant for a feast where we also enjoyed listening to beautiful Greek music... What a day!

Exploring PLAKA & the ACROPOLIS, Athens GREECE - Nognog in the City
We arrived in Athens the day after our departure in Manila. It was the 30th day of December. On our day 1, we met our service driver Nikos from Welcome Pickups. He talks about how Greek lives during our initial conversation and even brought us at the peak of Lycabettus Hill to have a 180 degree view of the whole city. This was the kick off of our travel adventure.

PLAKA - HEARTH OF THE ATHENA NIGHT WALK
Athens PLAKA made easy, a walk between two Metro Stations
Athens does not need to be expensive or complicated. The walk through the shops between two Metro stations will have cost 3Euro40 in transport, and along the walk you will get the option to see the Ministry of Culture, Hadrian's Library, and a number of beautiful churches as well as shops old and new. The dining is better done in Monastiraki area just because of the views. Greek salad and a dish have to be tried and the wine is fantastic.

Guys, if you ever go to Athens , take a moment to go PLAKA.. Lined up with some good restaurants is this old neighborhood that will quickly make you feel like you just caught a 10 minute ferry to Santorini.

Our favourite area in Athens is the beautiful Anafiotika close to the Plaka and the Acropolis. Anafiotika is a tiny neighbourhood in Athens - consisting of only 45 houses in classic, Greek island style. And we absolutely loved it.

I explored multiple neighborhoods in the vicinity. Plaka, the old city and the historical center of Athens... There's also Downtown Athens with all of its great clothing stores and shops to choose from. However, my overall goal was to find an anarchist neighborhood called Exarcheia. I was told to stay away from here. Naturally, I do the opposite of what people want. So there I went.

EPISODE 5 - Plaka is the district to the north of the Acropolis that corresponds pretty much to the centre of the ancient city of Athens, and retains that old, timeless feeling. Modernity hasn't penetrated much into Plaka, which keeps its old tavernas and cafes, as well as elegant examples of 19th century neoclassical architecture. A walk through Plaka can turn up all kinds of delights.
