Fordton House, Crediton
Full details coming soon: helmores.com
Fordton House is an attractive and unspoilt Grade II listed Queen Anne house, set in a glorious elevated position, overlooking its parkland gardens and across the River Yeo. The house dates from the late 18th Century and had been in the ownership of the present family for over 40 years.
The building is constructed of brick and stone, with stucco elevations under a slate roof and has been meticulously maintained by the present owners. The accommodation presents a wonderful opportunity to create a fantastic family home.
In addition, there is a detached gate lodge, which has recently been refurbished, providing excellent secondary accommodation, or a letting unit. Within the grounds are a good selection of outbuildings that have potential for conversion to provide additional accommodation, subject to the necessary consents.
The house provides spacious and well laid-out accommodation, of over 4,600 sq ft, arranged over two floors. An elegant front door opens to a gracious reception hall, with original staircase rising to a galleried landing on the first floor. There are three further principal reception rooms on the ground floor, as well as a kitchen, utility room and cloakroom with WC. The cellar provides a storage area, with original wine bins. On the first floor, there is a master bedroom suite, a guest bedroom suite, five further bedrooms, a family bathroom and separate cloakroom.
OUTSIDE
The gardens surrounding the house have been beautifully maintained and landscaped to create a parkland like setting, enjoying wonderful rural views in all directions. From the lane, the driveway is accessed after a listed bridge over the river Yeo, through a pillared entrance, past Fordton Lodge, sweeping in front of the house to a generous parking and turning area at the side of the house next to the outbuildings. There are extensive areas of lawn in front of the house, which run down to the River Yeo. At the back of the house, there is a large south-facing terrace and swimming pool. There are also further areas of lawn and a croquet lawn.
To the west of the house and outbuildings there is a substantial walled kitchen garden, with a productive and well-tended vegetable and fruit garden. In addition there is an orchard and paddock, suitable for keeping livestock. In all, the gardens and grounds extend to approximately 4 acres.

THIS ABANDONED BUILDING WAS TERRIFYING
Good morning, good evening and goodnight to ya'll. This one was a little different than normal, we don't usually explore abandoned places at night as something always goes wrong, this time was no exception.

Exploring the dilapidated ruins of civilisation, abandoned buildings, creepy theme parks, military bases, and underground vaults containing the remnants of a by gone era. And with a bit of comedy and humour chucked in there too, can't be too serious about these things.
We're not serious urban explorers, we just love the adventure.
Urban Exploration is not for kiddies. Abandoned places are dangerous. Adventures are fun.

Tiverton High School News - Monday 7th November 2016
This Wednesday saw the first of the year 7 Heads’ lunches.
Myself, Mr Morrell and the Otter Ambassadors welcomed Year 7
Otters into the library at lunchtime. Whilst students grazed on
wraps, sandwiches and fruit we talked to them about life at THS.
The Ambassadors led the discussions as we gathered information
about their views on learning, extra-curricular, Classchart points
as well as other things. Over the next few weeks the other year
7s, from the five remaining Houses, will have the same
opportunity. All of their views will provide us with important
student voice information which will help shape what we do to
support them, both in the classroom and beyond.

3. Employability fair On Friday 21st October, students were given the opportunity to
visit our Careers Fair to gather advice on their Post-16 education.
We were joined by various organisations ranging from the
Armed Forces, colleges and apprenticeship providers to name a
few. We were also joined by special guests Steve Flaws, Mayor of
Tiverton and Neil Parish MP for Honiton and Tiverton. It was a
great opportunity for students to find out information on
education pathways that they may not have previously
considered.

4. ReStart the Heart RESTART A HEART DAY 2016 AT THS South Western Ambulance
Service, in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation, visited
THS on Tuesday 18th October as part of the European Restart a
Heart Day. Four volunteers worked all day with groups of up to
40 students per lesson teaching them the basics of
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). The students were a mix
of Year 8 in the morning and Year 10 in the afternoon. After
watching the “Call, Push, Rescue” dvd, students then moved to
the Sports Hall where they were taught the practical element of
CPR. The main message from the Restart a Heart campaign is “If
Photos
you suffer a cardiac arrest out of hospital in the UK, you have a
one in ten chance of surviving. We want to change that.” Chris
Crook, Assistant Responder Officer, said “These are life skills that
everyone should know. 80% of cardiac arrests happen at home
and by knowing the basics of CPR you can keep oxygen and
blood circulating until the ambulance service arrives.” Comments
from the Year 8 boys included: “it hurts to keep going” “it’s a
good thing to learn” “helps us in life to maybe save someone’s
life” “I’m glad we are able to learn this” Kirst Pritchard First

6. Science in Extreme
Places
On Monday 31st October, Dr Vivien Cumming gave an
inspirational talk to years 9 and 10 about her profession, photo
journalism. She began her career as a scientist, but then took the
next step of her life to become a photo journalist and worked
alongside geologists and scientists. One outstanding place on the
planet she visited is the Antarctic; she got lost, could have been a
polar bear’s dinner and woke up to more snow than she had
seen in her life, however, she overcame her fears and has
accomplished her desire to visit one of earth’s most
extraordinary places which many wouldn’t dream of. Dr Vivien
has also recently been to the Indonesian rainforest and an
African desert and feels she is lucky to have been the first person
(alongside her group) to have visited them. To top off the
travelling lifestyle, she came back from Iceland on Sunday with
the BBC and has got the best Aussi twang for someone who only
lived there for a short while! Peggy Hookins After listening to Dr
Vivien Cumming talk on photo journalism, it left me quite
inspired. Almost all of the photography that I saw of hers I
thought was incredible. For her to have seen some of those
sights and experienced those experiences, she must feel very

Greta Thunberg’s UN speech: We’ll not let you get away with this
An emotional Greta Thunberg sent a stern warning to world leaders to act and address climate change. The 16-year-old Swedish teenage activist delivered her four-minute long speech at the United Nations Climate Action Summit in New York on Monday.
Thunberg has galvanised young people around the world since she started protesting alone with a sign outside the Swedish parliament building in Aug 2018.
Homebaked - a community bakery transforming its area
Brick by brick and loaf by loaf, we're rebuilding our community. Such is Homebaked's motto, the community bakery started in Anfield, opposite Liverpool FC's football ground. Profits are put back into the business, employability workshops and training for local people.

Greta Thunberg blasts world leaders in emotional speech at U.N. climate summit: 'How dare you'
Teenage climate change activist Greta Thunberg on Monday opened the United Nations Climate Action Summit with an angry condemnation of world leaders for failing to take strong measures to combat climate change.
Thunberg, visibly emotional, said in shaky but stern remarks at the opening of the summit that the generations that have polluted the most have burdened her and her generation with the extreme impacts of climate change.
This is all wrong. I shouldn't be up here. I should be back in school on the other side of the ocean yet you all come to us young people for hope. How dare you, she said.
You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, Thunberg said.
Days after millions of young people took to the streets worldwide to demand emergency action on climate change, leaders gathered for the annual United Nations General Assembly were to try to inject fresh momentum into stalling efforts to curb carbon emissions.
