Breuill -Cervinia, or more famous as just “Cervinia”, on the boarder of Switzerland, is the best ski resort in Italy for late season.
Together with valtournenche and famous Zermatt, they share the matterhorn ski paradise ski area, which considered by many as the most beautiful ski area in the world.

The closest airports to Cervinia are Turin, with a transfer time of 1 hour and 39 minutes, Milan Malpensa airport with a transfer time of 2 hours and 7 minutes and Geneva, with a transfer time of 3 hours.
Take note that a round trip crossing of the mont blanc tunnel will cost you 57 euros per car if you are coming from Geneva.
Cervinia lies under the south face of maybe the most Iconic mountain in the world, the Materrhorn, aka Cervino, where the highest spine of the alps.
The village is located in the altitude of 2050 meters at the bottom of a large bowl capped by the Materrhorn ridge on the west and north and the Glacier on plateau Rosa on the east
There are 2 main skipasses you can buy in Cervinia:
Cervinia- valtournenche ski pass, which includes the Italian side of the Matterhorn paradise and consist of 150 connected km of ski runs
It costs 230 euros for 6 days and recommended for beginners.
For intermediates and advanced, we recommend to buy the international skipass, which costs 290 euros for 6 days and consist 360 km of ski connected ski runs, and worth every penny
The swiss side is bigger. More diverse and beautiful, and you can visit the amazing pedestrian town of Zermatt.
take note that it is important to leave early in the morning and pay attention for the weather.
If you happened to stuck on the swiss side as of the weather or just because you missed the last lift to little Matterhorn, wait to the end of the video to hear the solution to that problem.
Together with Zermatt, Cervinia shared the largest glacier ski area in the world, and the largest summer ski area in Europe.
the snow is even good on April because of the high altitude and the big bowl is serves as a huge reflector, so for all the northern people who wants to tan fast, Cervinia is an ideal location for late season skiing and good weather.

the main ski area of Cervinia is a bit boring as there are almost no trees in most of it.
the runs are well groomed and great for beginners and intermediates, the best one is run 7 from Rosa Plateau all the way down to Cervinia and is 13 km long and almost 1500 meteres vertical drope, from the highest point in the Italian side to Cervinia itself.
For snowboarders, there are a lot of easy off piste areas and an average snowpark
Called Indian snowpark.
for freeriders and advances skiers there is heliski here.
The town have a cross country ski area and an ice ring
The town itself is quite boring and have a small pedestrian area,
we recommend to have an apres ski at Delle nevi,
And if there is a full moon, stay at chalet plan torrette, and ski back after dark with the moonlight

As we promised, the first tip is, what to do if is stuck at the swiss side, well, in that case, it is better for you to get a room there because a cub back will take you 5 hours’ drive and cost you at least 500 euros!!
Our 2nd tip, is, if you come with a car, it is cheaper to sleep in valtournenchev.
On the days you will decide to ski to Zermatt, better park at Cervinia because it will save you precious
Time that you will need to explore the swiss side.
there are plenty of free parking lots in Cervinia. Be awere in nice weekends as there can be traffic jams

Plateau Rosa 3480m - Zermatt 1606m (svizzera)
La lunga e impegnativa discesa in pista da Plateau Rosa con gli sci d'alpinismo, verso la città di Zermatt (Altitudine:1.608 m) in Svizzera per poi risalire con gli sci in piedi con un dislivello di 1880m di una sola andata.
Zermatt è una località di montagna famosa per lo sci, l'alpinismo e le escursioni che sorge nella Svizzera meridionale, nel Canton Vallese. La cittadina, che si trova a un'altitudine di 1600 m, è adagiata ai piedi del picco del Cervino, la celebre montagna a forma di piramide. Bahnhofstrasse, la via principale, è costellata di boutique, alberghi e ristoranti, e offre inoltre un vivace scenario après-ski.
È una rinomata stazione di turismo invernale ed estivo delle Alpi, specializzata nello sci alpino, con numerosi impianti di risalita e molti chilometri di piste, grazie alle quali è possibile la pratica dello sci estivo sul ghiacciaio del Plateau Rosà, all'interno del Matterhorn Ski Paradise.

Le partenze della telecabina (6 posti seduti) e della funivia Cervinia-Plan Maison sono situate a poca distanza dal centro del paese di Breuil-Cervinia, a 2050 metri di altitudine, e portano a Plan Maison a quota 2.550 metri s.l.m. nel cuore del comprensorio sciistico del Cervino da dove è possibile raggiungere con altri impianti Plateau Rosà/Testa Grigia a 3500 metri e il colle del Teodulo oppure, nella stagione invernale, scendere in paese con gli sci ai piedi.
Alla partenza degli impianti si trovano numerosi posti auto (parcheggio gratuito), casse per l’acquisto dei biglietti e servizio bar.
Da Plan Maison, una telecabina a 12 posti raggiunge Cime Bianche Laghi da cui parte la funivia per Plateau Rosa.
La funivia per Plateau Rosà dispone di caratteristiche tecniche innovative e di un design che le conferisce una linea slanciata e consente di sfruttare nel migliore dei modi le vetrate per garantire un panorama mozzafiato: le ampie vetrate che avvolgono le cabine appaiono come una terrazza proiettata nel vuoto trasmettendo ai passeggeri la sensazione di un viaggio nel cuore delle Alpi.

This is a one-shot ski, from Plateau Rosa down to Cervinia in the beautiful mountains of Aosta. (Map included in the begining of the Video)
The idea is to give the viewer a sense of conditions, directions, time and beauty.
January, 2017: This video was filmed in one cut with two GoPros (one chest mounted and the other on the pole).
We were of the first to hit the slope.

Skiing from Plateau Rosa (3480 m) to Valtournenche (1520 m) - Aosta Valley, Italy
This wonderful track is part of Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche Ski Resort.
The resort is located on the italian side of Monte Cervino - Matterhorn (4478 m above sea level), in Aosta Valley.
The track starts from the glacier named Plateau Rosa (3480 m) and reaches Valtournenche village (1520 m). Thus, the difference in height is an impressive 1960 m! Also the track length is impressive: 22 km!
In this video you can see the whole track: it was my first time, so I was quite slow and I frequently stopped to ask for information.
Maybe next time I will publish a faster video.

Questa meravigliosa pista fa parte del comprensorio sciistico Breuil - Cervinia Valtournenche.
Ci troviamo sul versante italiano del monte Cervino - Matterhorn (4478 m sul livello del mare), in Valle d'Aosta.
La pista inizia sul ghiacciaio del Plateau Rosa (3480 m) e raggiunge il villaggio di Valtournenche (1520 m).
Il dislivello complessivo, quindi, è un impressionante 1960 m! Anche la lunghezza della pista è impressionante: 22 km!
In questo video potete vedere l'intera pista. Era la mia prima volta, quindi non sono andato molto veloce e mi sono fermato spesso per chiedere informazioni.
Forse la prossima volta pubblicherò una discesa più veloce.

Breuil-Cervinia is an alpine resort in the Aosta Valley region of northwest Italy. It is a frazione of the comune of Valtournenche.
Cervinia lies at 2,006 m (6,581 ft) above sea level, at the foot of the Matterhorn, in a valley surrounded by high, glaciated mountains and the sheer rock face of the Jumeaux. It shares a ski area with Zermatt in Switzerland, connected through the Plateau Rosa glacier. Some of the runs are very long, the longest stretches 22 km from the Klein Matterhorn in Switzerland down to Valtournenche in Italy.
Cervinia being one of Europe's highest ski resorts means low temperatures and good consistent snow fall, Skiing is nearly year round on the glacier. Temperatures get very cold through the winter months with daily averages being around -5 - -10 for the winter months and only about 8-10c in the summer months. This maintains the snow in great shape throughout the winter season. December usually averages round 40-50cm in resort and 140-160cm on the mountain.
