Playa Brasilito, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Brasilito is traditionally thought of as a rockin’ little Tico town, with small shops centered around a traditional soccer field, and children and horses always in site. But Brasilito’s location on a beautiful stretch of light gray-sand beach in Guanacaste’s Goldcoast Region has brought a sizeable number of expats and tourists to the town. This atmosphere, when combined with the large variety of restaurants and the fact that Brasilito is just down the road from one of the most luxurious communities in the country (The Westin Resort), makes Brasilito a must-see for those wishing to travel to or invest in Costa Rica.
Especially because of its proximity to Playa Conchal, Brasilito real estate is quite varied. It offers those interested in investing in Costa Rica the chance to enjoy local flavor while still taking advantage of the upscale perks of nearby private clubs and resorts. Investors looking for luxury homes with ocean views will certainly want to learn more about the area outside the village, especially if they're eager to see and experience a more traditional Costa Rican atmosphere while in town. Those interested in vacation rentals will also be happy to discover beachfront options, along with other properties that are just minutes from the shore. For a resort feel, it's most definitely worth exploring the condos and villas available at the nearby Westin Resort in Playa Conchal. The towns of Playa Flamingo and Playa Potrero are located within 10 minutes from this beach.
BEACH Playa Brasilito, playa Flamingo, Playa Samara Nicoya Peninsula Costa Rica
practical guide travel in Costa Rica. In this video are 3 beaches we visited on the Nicoya Peninsula ,Pacific side in the North. Depending on the type of traveler you are there are the touristic beaches like Tamarindo, Flamingo ,Coco etc. We tried to stay away from the real Gringo Trail type of places and chose less known and popular beaches. That said the beach we stayed at the longest was at the end of our trip at Play Jaco that we really enjoyed. Other beaches are a bit blown out but not as busy. Samara had a nice beach but it also had Sand Fleas that did a nice job of munching on your legs. Be careful of Rip Tides. We got caught in one and it was extremly powerful and dangerous. Some beaches are not marked for rip tides almost none have Lifeguards though some do. You can get hassled with people selling you stuff or making you pay for parking. Sometimes it's better to pay for parking so no one breaks into your car. Which is a common occurrence. Never leave stuff visible in your unattended car. Take it with you or leave it in the hotel. IN low season you can negotiate if you stay multiple days. Some beaches you are the only ones there .
Walking Around Brasilito, Costa Rica in 2018
Brasilito is located in the province of Guanacaste, Costar Rica. May residents of Brasilito are of Nicaraguan descent and still have strong ties with Nicaragua. There is much less tourism in Brasilito than in neighboring Flamingo, Tamarindo or Potrero. Tourist attractions in Brasilito are ATVs and horse back ridingl
Costa Rica Playa Brasilito
Among the first beaches to attract international attention along Costa Rica's 'Gold Coast,' Playa Brasilito along with Playa Flamingo and Playa Conchal sit on the northwestern shore of Guanacaste province. A tiny fishing village offering a wonderful beach stretch to relax and enjoy, Playa Brasilito is located 70 km from Liberia and around 45 km from the town of Santa Cruz. Easily accessible by bus and taxi, many people land at the Liberia International Airport to get here.
A 2-kilometer long beach of great scenic beauty, Playa Brasilito is a 10-minute walk from Playa Conchal and a 5-minute drive from Playa Flamingo. With just a few hotels and cabins, much of this beach retains a local flavor with many Ticos (Costa Ricans) coming here to spend the weekend away from the city. A small town in the center of Playa Brasilito is a soccer field or Plaza, while around the edge of the village you will find a few small pulperias or general stores. A surprisingly pleasant place to spend some quiet time, tourists can experience Tico life at its most natural out here.
The TRUTH About Playa Conchal, Costa Rica
I show you around Brasilito Beach and Playa Conchal on our first full day in the Northern Pacific Coast area of Costa Rica. I also give you a look at our $30 per night beach side hotel room at Hotel Brasilito. And finally, we had a crazy sea kayaking adventure to a rock island overrun with crabs.

Playa Potrero, Guanacaste, Costa Rica
Playa Potrero, or Potrero Beach, is your quintessential 1950s American beach town. Traditionally known as a fishing village, it is not uncommon to find cows and horses roaming unattended on the beach and through the streets. Still, the newly paved road through Potrero has allowed it to experience a boom in tourists, real estate, restaurants, and overall fun.
Potrero Beach is comprised of approximately equal parts expats and locals, and this town may the best example of how this eclectic mix can create a truly unique Costa Rican experience. Expats love the authentic culture offered by the locals; and locals love the business and opportunity brought in by the expats.
Playa Potrero has a large, u-shaped bay with dark brown sand and featuring calm, warm waters in which families can swim. The Potrero Beach bay is only partially developed, and beachfront titled property is still available. Playa Potrero is one of the only areas in Costa Rica that offers titled beachfront real estate. The beachfront lots are comprised primarily of luxury single-family homes, condo developments, restaurants, and boutique hotels. The bay also harbors the Playa Flamingo Marina on the South end, which is filled with catamarans, sailboats, and fishing boats. For yachting enthusiasts, the marina provides the opportunity to moor their vessels close to home.
The main expat neighborhoods in Playa Potrero are located in Surfside Estates and Pacific Heights. Surfside Estates was originated in the 1970’s with over 800 divided lots, and beautiful, single-family homes are being built on these lots to this day. Many Canadians and Americans call Surfside Estates home, and many of these homes are rented out as vacation rentals throughout the year when the owners are not in town. The layout of this neighborhood is a square flat grid system, and fire hydrants are even installed throughout the community. This community offers great value with the lots starting at $35,000, and the typical 3-bedroom home in Surfside can range between $275,000 to $400,00. The average building cost to build is between $100.00 - $125.00 per square foot, so it’s extremely affordable to build in this community.
Pacific Heights offers lots and homes that have spectacular views of the ocean and inland valleys. These lots start in the $125,000 dollar range, and is a great value considering ocean view lots on the South Ridge of Flamingo range from $250,000 to $400,000. Lots in Las Catalinas, which offers luxury living just north of Playa Potrero, start at $450,000.
Even outside of these main developments, there are luxury single-family homes and condominium developments that expats love to call home or invest in. Short term vacation rentals and long term rentals are common in the Playa Potrero area. Beachfront Conco development include Pacific Beach Condos, Endless Beach Condos, and El Destino Condos.
