La Ticla is south of Manzanillo, about 2 hours by car, and is on the West coast of Mexico. Mario and several other surfers challenged the waves. The waves were difficult and unpredictable so not many rides that were long or that good, and frustrating for the surfers.
thefreesurfer.com presents: One day in La Ticla
La Ticla is a tiny fisher village in Michoacán, Mexico. After it became a hang out for traveling surfers and hippies, the drugs came and with them the problems. By now, everything is back to normal, what means quiet and calm. There is a supermarket with the really basics (or less), a internet cafe with a incredible slow connection and a few places to eat. There is also a nice place to stay right at the beach for a reasonable price as well as some more basic places to pinch your tent or simply sleep in a hammock. It's a long beachbreak, plus rivermouth and a long lefthand point on the other side of the river. The Pointbreak looks like good fun for longboarding and probable turns on with a big swell. One more thing: If you come by public transport, try to hitch a ride from Highway 200 ( where you get of the bus), down to the beach. Otherwise get ready for a long and sweaty walk, it's worth it. Thanks a lot Joanna for shooting. For more infos about other destination and updates, check out: thefreesurfer.com facebook.com/thefreesurfer
