How to Make Omurice (EASY Japanese Omelette Rice Recipe) | OCHIKERON | Create Eat Happy :)
Omurice is a very popular home cooked meal in Japan. It is a chicken fried rice wrapped with a thin sheet of crepe-like fried egg.
Many people, especially kids and guys like it ;) Perfect dish for bento box, too!

Omurice (Japanese Omelet Rice)
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 20min
Number of servings: 4
Ingredients:
600g (1.3lb.) warm cooked rice
200g (7oz.) chicken breast without skin
200g (7oz.) onion
50g (1.8oz.) canned sliced mushrooms
8 eggs
cooking oil
ketchup
salt and pepper
cooked broccoli *if you like
Directions:
1. Dice the chicken and chop the onion.
2. Heat 1 tbsp. of cooking oil in a frying pan and cook the chopped onion until tender. Add the diced chicken and cook until no longer pink. Then add sliced mushrooms and 8 tbsp. of ketchup.
3. Add warm cooked rice, when they are evenly coated with ketchup, season with salt and pepper, then divide it into 4 portions. *you can wrap the leftover rice with plastic wrap and keep in the freezer for about a week or more.
4. Beat 2 eggs (1 serving) in a bowl, then season with salt and pepper.
5. In a clean frying pan, heat 1/2 tbsp. of cooking oil, spread the egg mixture and make a round omelette. Before the egg is fully cooked, place the seasoned rice in the middle. Fold both both sides of the egg, then shape it using the edge of the pan. Carefully flip it over onto a plate. *You can use a paper towel to shape it nicely.
6. Put some ketchup on top, and serve with cooked broccoli if you like.

The 4th and 5th day in Japan during 2017 Full write up in the website and blog link below, but if your not a fan of clicking elswere and reading long arcs of text with some pretty snaps thrown in heres the gist:
Shinkansen from Tokyo as far as we could then private rail to Komagane.
Lunch by the station and taxi to an amazing Ryokan in the hills.
Dinner at a nearby beer hall.
Early morning amazing breakfast, like blow my mind amazing.
Then the distillery! Mars Whisky Distillery. The tourist draw card for this one is still small so the tour is self guided :D
We meandered around town on the way back finding some amazing little shrines and temples, then grabbed our bags and it was back to Tokyo.

Japan orders removal of 'Comfort woman' statue on display at arts festival
日 국제예술제서 '소녀상' 철거…'표현의 부자유' 선언
Japanese officials have removed a statue that represents the victims of Japan's wartime sexual slavery.
According to the Aichi Triennale International contemporary art festival, Japan's top chief cabinet secretary, Yoshihide Suga( ), and the governor of Aichi Prefecture, Hideaki Omura( ) told the festival organizers that the statue must be removed.
The festival added that its decision to remove the statue was also based on “terror threats” by telephone and email.
Japan's local newspapers including Asahi Shimbun and Tokyo Shimbun also strongly criticized the statue's removal, saying such threats are not acceptable or forgiveable.
The Korean artist who made the statue, Kim Un-seong , condemned the Japanese politicans for attacking freedom of expression.
Japan has ordered the removal of a comfort woman statue before, in 2012, when it called the placement of the statue a political act.
