This row of terrace houses has been a feature of Pleasley for many, many years. Now, as residents leave, they are boarded up and no doubt they will be demolished in due course, probably to make way for the linking stretch of road to be made into a dual carriageway. This will change the looks of a scene which has been there for over 100 years. Such is progress.

In this video, we walk the former freight and passenger railway line between Sutton in Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, via the site of the former Skegby Station, before reaching our destination of Pleasley Colliery on the Nottinghamshire / Derbyshire border. We finish off with some footage from above the former pit. This walk is known as the Skegby Trail.

This is a short documentary I made for my Final Major Project for college. Looking at the history of coal mining in areas such as Newstead and Pleasley. DISCLAIMER: Pleasley is in Derbyshire, but it was the most convenient and interesting country park and mining museum I could visit, as others such as Bestwood Country Park where only open on weekends at inconvenient times. Sorry to mislead.
Also looking at the lives of miners, Thatcher's government and the miners strike of 1984-5 with mining unions.
This was only 5 minutes long and wasn't as informative as I'd like but I will be making a 10 minute version of this documentary with more footage that I'd filmed.
Also excuse how gross I look at the start of this documentary XD.
Before all the technical stuff, first I want to give a massive thanks to Pleasley Pit Trust for the amazing work they've done protecting and ensuring the care and preservation of the colliery for everyone to enjoy. I'd definitely recommend visiting Pleasley Pit and hope they can continue their amazing work.

Pleasley Colliery Coal mine. Derbyshire
This is my video of the open day at Pleasley Colliery Coal mine, Derbyshire. The pit is well worth a visit and the food is great but get there before the cafe closes at 2 pm. Nice walks all around the pit.

Heanor is a town in the Amber Valley district of Derbyshire in the East Midlands of England. It lies 8 miles north-east of Derby. Together with the adjacent village of Loscoe it forms the civil parish and town council-administered area of Heanor and Loscoe, which in the 2011 census had a population of 17,251.
Heanor Market Place was developed in the 1890s, following the break-up of the Heanor Hall estate by the Miller Mundy family of nearby Shipley Hall (the Market Place site had been part of Heanor Hall Park). Until this development the main focus of market trading activity had been at Tag Hill.
Since 1984 Heanor has had three tiers of local government: Derbyshire County Council at the county level (the top tier), Amber Valley Borough Council at the district level (the middle tier), and Heanor and Loscoe Town Council at the parish level (the bottom tier). Heanor falls into two single-member electoral divisions of the County Council, Greater Heanor and Heanor Central.
Heanor and Loscoe civil parish includes all of Heanor town except Heanor Gate Science College and a few surrounding streets on the western edge of town (near the road to Smalley), Heanor Gate Industrial Estate to the south west, and a small area of houses on the town's southeasterly fringe, near the main road to Ilkeston. The college and surrounding streets, plus half the industrial estate, are within Smalley civil parish; the other areas are within the civil parish of Shipley.
Shipley Country Park, a steep wooded knoll bordering the south and west of the town, has its own riding school and three lakes surrounding it. It consists of most of the former estate of the Miller-Mundy family who lived until the 1920s at Shipley Hall (demolished in the 1940s). It was then sold for intensive open-pit mining: open-cast and deep-seam mining by what became the National Coal Board, before being restored and handed to the county council in the 1970s.
The nearest station is at Langley Mill two miles away, which has services to Nottingham, Sheffield and beyond. Formerly the Midland Railway had a line between Shipley Gate and Butterley that passed through Heanor (closed to passengers in 1926), and the Great Northern Railway had a branch line which terminated in a goods yard and small station in Heanor (closed in 1928, though temporarily revived in 1939).
Bus routes link Heanor with larger towns in the area such as Nottingham, Derby and Mansfield. Major bus operators serving Heanor include Trent Barton and Yourbus The nearest international airport is East Midlands Airport, south of Derby.

Using common sense regarding flying anywhere near a plane.
Yes he should be 500ft high and yes I'm restricted to 400ft flying. But the ground here is not level so he could be lower than 500ft if he comes over the hill. Using common sense and not flying is the safest way around this. We would be 100ft away but if the pilot spots my drone and thinks dickhead with drone here and I cause him to do an evasive manoeuvre that puts him out of control or something on them lines. It's not worth it.
Quarry Lane Nature Reserve, Mansfield - Aerial Footage
Set in a narrow wooded valley, the Quarry Lane LNR is often referred to as a hidden gem with its range of walkways alongside the River Maun and recognised as a haven for wildlife despite being surprisingly close to the centre of Mansfield.
Many local residents appreciate the walk through the site on their way into town, use the area to exercise their dogs or visit the site for educational nature activities such as pond dipping, river work and wildflower studies.
As the River Maun meanders through the reserve, it falls over a number of small ruffles, eventually entering Field Mill Pond, which attracts a wealth of wildlife including kingfishers, herons and water voles.
The grassland creates small open wildflower meadow areas between the trees and scrub which attracts numerous butterflies and other invertebrates.
Along the southern edge of the site is a limestone exposure, a pond dipping scrape and Drury's dam viaduct, the latter being a Grade II listed structure. Great achievement in July 2015 - the MCG was awarded a Green Flag Community Award for the conservation work on the site.
