When I first started flying drones, it was out of pure attraction to the footage and the controls suited me after a lifetime of playing video games. I never believed it would take me to places I had never been and be able to fly them high above on an island like St. Martin|St. Maarten. The beauty fits with drone footage so well that it's almost as if it was designed to be flown there.

After releasing my video ST MARTIN | ST MAARTEN AFTER HURRICANE IRMA I had many people emailing me and commenting about the drone footage I had shot. It made me realize I have so much additional footage sitting on my hard drive. So I wanted to release it for all to enjoy.

For those of you who don't know Terres Basses, it's a residential area on the French Side right at the border near Cupecoy. This region is home to some of the largest luxury villas on the island, many of which can be easily rented.

It's also home to some of the most beautiful beaches on the island like Baie Rouge, Plum Baie, and Baie Longue. Since the area is gated, many travelers don't realize they can access these beaches. There are no private beaches in St. Martin so it's completely legal to be on any of them. So go out and explore!

Located in the heart of the Low Lands on the western coast of the island, Baie Longue, or Long Bay, is the first beach on the French side of the island, when travelling north from the Dutch side.

One of the longest and quietest beaches on the island. It's accessible by a parking lot in the gated community of Terres Basses. With there being a lack of restaurants and activities on the beach, it's best for getting some peace and quiet. This beach is ideal for people who enjoy walking or sometimes you just want to read a book with only the sounds of the waves.

Two villa options for your here are Les Trois Jours and Baie Longue Beach House.

Driving Tour of St Maarten loop Mayo Bay, Terres Basses, Marigot

Video is a driving tour of St. Maarten from the Maho Bay area near Princess Juliana International Airport through the Terres Basses area, then on to Marigot. From there back to my parking garage at Maho Bay. Video was taken with a GoPro Hero4 Silver and sped up 5x in Microsoft Hyperlapse Pro. Output was then edited in Pinnacle Studio 19.
