We've NEVER seen the bugs we came across while hiking through the mountains of Ajijic, Jalisco!
►Take this tour:
We had no idea the different types of crazy bugs in Mexico we would see while taking a Plus Adventure hiking tour through the mountains of Ajijic. We really enjoyed the beautiful hiking in Mexico with Guillermo as our guide. He knew everything we wanted to know about the forest, plants, bugs, and landscape of the Lake Chapala area.
We can't wait to take a boat tour to one of the islands next!

The Magic Of Lake Chapala - Mexico
Lake Chapala is a storybook waiting to be discovered. Lake Chapala is Mexico's largest lake nestled in a ring of mountains with colorful fishing villages strung like pearls along the north shore where a slower pace of life awaits you. If you want to leave the rat race behind for a time or forever, Lake Chapala warrants a closer look, with friendly people to welcome you, many say the magic of Lake Chapala is something you just have to experience to believe.
Lake Chapala doesn't have the desert or the hot, humid weather of common tourist areas. Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city, is less than an hour with all the amenities you could hope for with world-class shopping and cultural arts. With its semi-tropical climate, Lake Chapala is a land that is every awakening. Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Madre mountains of South Western Mexico, it is located in a valley with an elevation of over 5,000 feet above sea level. The protective mountains create a micro-climate that averages 75F or 24C year round. According to National Geographic, Lake Chapala has the second best climate in the world. Like the fabled Camelot, even when the cooling rains come from June to September, it almost always rains at night. In the morning, the sunshine is back and the humidity is just high enough to keep the brightly colored flowers blooming and turn the mountains a lush, tropical green. Color is everywhere. Flowers draped from balconies, hanging baskets, fences, borders and trees.
This is truly a cosmopolitan community where everyone is welcome. International Living Magazine has ranked Mexico as the number one place to retire in the world for the past two years in a row. More people than ever are opting to live outside their home countries to take advantage of the lower cost of living. On average, you can save 30% living here. There is world class health care at a fraction of the cost you'll find north of the border.
Frequently called the Chapala Riviera with its cobblestone streets, flowering trees, lush mountains, tranquil lifestyle, low cost of living, Lake Chapala has become a popular destination for visitors, who then fall in love with the pace and the people and make this their home.
In the 1960's, hippies and artists discovered Lake Chapala. This created an eclectic blend of art and personality which, of course, attracted more artists and has turned Lakeside into a flourishing artists community, home to dozens of galleries and craftsman of every kind, an attraction that continues to beckon today as is evidenced by the whimsy and color at Lake Chapala.
You'll also see some delightful forms of transportation such as donkeys and horses. Along with that, is the safety they feel in the village streets and sidewalks, day and night.
English is spoke everywhere. Wireless internet access and Vonage service is inexpensive and people can email or call their families back home. There are many recreational activities - tennis, golf, horseback riding, boating, fishing, biking, hiking. Plus there are so many English language clubs and charitable organizations, that no one could ever be lonely or bored. Mexico has been called the land of fiestas. There are 5,000 registered fiestas in Mexico and festivals are always great fun and feasts for the senses. With all the dancing, food, music, drinking and wonderful sights, culture is expressed through these fiestas and celebrations all year round.
The services are world-class - cozy B&Bs, gracious 5-star hotels and bungalows - you'll find the perfect place to feel at home. There are a wealth of restaurants ranging from Italian, Greek, Argentinian, Chinese, Thai and of course the best margaritas in the world. There are movies in English at the local cinema, English TV, water park and a community theater with plays performed in English. There are places to worship in every Christian denominations. If you are looking for a home with a village-pace of life, you'll find exactly what you want - condos with concierge services, charming homes with stonework, handpainted tile, beamed ceilings and outdoor living.

The Most CHARMING Place in Mexico (We Can't Believe It! Ajijic, Jalisco)
Everyone wants to move or retire to Ajijic. What's so special about Ajijic, Jalisco?
►Get perks on PATREON:
Today we are on a mission to see what life in Ajijic Mexico is like. Why are so many people from across the world flocking to this town on the north shore of Lake Chapala to live and retire? After walking around the plaza, Ajijic malecon, and the streets of the city... we're quickly starting to see why!
If you're considering becoming an expat and moving to Mexico, there's a good chance you've heard of Ajijic or Lake Chapala in the state of Jalisco. Before coming here, we thought this was just a boring retirement community in México. Now, we're thinking we couldn't have been more wrong.
In this video, we'll show you why we think Ajijic, Jalisco may be the most charming place in Mexico.

this is one of the most dangerous places in mexico?!?
Is Mexico dangerous? We spent 4 days in a DANGER ZONE in Mexico with another YouTube channel to find out.
► We offer Tangerine Travels perks here:
In today's video, we take you along for our 4-day adventures in the Pueblo Magico - Comala, Colima, Mexico. PLUS our 2nd collaboration with another YouTube channel, Spanish and Go! You can find Jim and May's channel here:
How dangerous is Mexico? The US State Department considers Colima Mexico to be a Level 4: DO NOT TRAVEL Zone. Many people told us the danger threats in Mexico were not to be taken lightly, especially in Colima.
Find out what we thought of the Pueblo Magico Mexico (magic town in Mexico), Comala and also our thoughts on what some say is the most dangerous place in Mexico. What we can say is that we aren't quite sure why this is a city no gringo will visit.
We get asked all the time: Is Mexico safe? Well, in this video we chat about the real dangers you might face in Mexico and how safe or dangerous the country and state of Colima actually are. Spoiler alert - the most dangerous thing in Colima is probably the volcano, which is the most active volcano in Mexico.
During our time in Colima, we stayed at Hotel Posada Comala which we thought was a great budget option:

One Year Expenses Living & Retire In Mexico 2017 Ajijic, Lake Chapala, Guadalajara, Cancun,
One Year Expenses Living & Retire In Mexico 2017 Ajijic,Lake Chapala, Guadalajara, Cancun,
We have added up one full years living expenses in Mexico. We divided up the 12 monthly cost and came up with a monthly average.
Some months are lower and some months are higher.
When I re-added all these amounts they came to $1405 I forgot to put in additional $15 per month bank fees.
I apologize for that mess up i'm a monkey and fell out of the tree.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Food $575 Per month. We eat 75% of our meals at home at 25% at restaurants.
Home supplies $20 Per month this includes everything we use in the home that we cannot eat
Entertainment $60 Per month
Mexican car insurance $85 a month. ( this amount was for two years premiums )
Car expense $85 a month includes gasoline, lubrication, oil filter changes, repairs
Gifts $40. We give money to the community.
Mobile phone $45. Two people
Dr. and dentist, Laboratory, x-rays $55 two people
Medication $40 a month two people
Massages $35 a month
Clothing $35 a month two people
Utilities $85 a month. Electricity and propane gas
Skype $5 a month
Mexican immigration fees $55 a month
Miscellaneous cost $150 a month
No alcohol no cigarettes we do not drink or smoke anything.
---------------------------------------------------
I made a correction here on the amount of monthly expenses $1405 I apologize for the mix-up
Total $1405 Per month For two people
Now you need to add in the amount of rent you want to pay.
A lot of people down here are living on less than this amount for two people. ( from $1000 a month and up.)
Of course other people are living on much more than this.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Example 1
living expenses is $1405 a month and you add in $400 a month for rent
You have $1405 for living expenses Plus $400 rent. Yo
Today we are going to give you our food budget actually the budget for the whole year here. We are going through all of our categories that we spend for living expenses for one year in Mexico.

OUR FAVORITE EXPERIENCE IN MEXICO!!
A full-day of nonstop fun: Herradura Express & Casa Herradura. Our most fun experience in Mexico!
Book this Herradura tour:
Our adventures with Tequila Herradura became our FAVORITE experience in Mexico. It started with a train ride on the Herradura Express. We arrived at Casa Herradura for a tour of the facility and some behind the scenes information to answer the question: how is tequila made?
After the private tequila tour, we got to sample three kinds of Tequila Herradura. Later, we got to tour the original Herradura factory and see some of the roots of this brand of tequila made in Mexico.
One of our favorite parts of the day was having a 3-course lunch with a live, 12-man mariachi band playing. While we were eating, there were also some dancing performances. It was unlike anything we'd seen before!
The day wrapped up with another Herradura Express tequila train back to Guadalajara, Mexico. The tequila tour with Tequila Herradura was without a doubt the best experience we've had in Mexico.
You can tell that Herradura takes so much pride in the process of making tequila, having a great time (with some responsible drinking), and creating brand ambassadors of the best tequila we have ever tasted.
As soon as we stepped off of the Herradura Express, we already wanted to repeat the day over again. If you're looking for things to do in Guadalajara, Mexico, we recommend checking out Tequila Herradura, an incredible tequila made in Mexico.
As expats traveling through México and currently living in GDL, there's no better tourism option than this! The Herradura Express is a Tequila lover's dream!
You take a train leaving from Guadalajara, Jalisco, get fed one tequila drink after the next, and take a tour of the Herradura Hacienda to see how tequila is made.
To make your vacation one to remember, we highly recommend this amazing distillery tour! Top-notch turismo!
If you want to take the Herradura Express and get a tour behind the scenes with Tequila Herradura, visit the website above or contact:

Traveling Mexico: Is it Dangerous? (and other questions answered)
In today's travel Mexico vlog we travel from Taxco, Guerrero to our home base of Mexico City. Along the way we share some tips and tricks to traveling Mexico.
Tips for Traveling Mexico:
-Always ask for and agree upon a price before getting in a Taxi
-Bus travel is typically the easiest way to get around Mexico
-We use ETN, Primera Plus, and ADO with the most frequency
-When traveling by bus you can either buy your bus ticket in advance online or you can wait to buy your tickets at the bus station. The advantage to buying ahead of time is knowing that the bus you want isn't going to sell out. The disadvantage is that sometimes we feel more stressed to catch the bus when we have to catch one that leaves at an exact time. Most busses are never full so waiting to buy your ticket at the station isn't as risky as it may seem.
-Traffic in Mexico City always stinks. Always.
-Though we encourage you to travel Mexico no matter what- it is infinitely more easy if you can speak Spanish.
-For longer trips (CDMX to Cancun or CDMX to Monterrey) a plane ticket is probably cheaper than a bus ticket- and obviously much quicker! Sometimes there is a stigma within Mexico about traveling by plane being expensive- but it never hurts to look at Injerjet.com to see how much your trip might cost you.
-Is traveling Mexico dangerous? Through all of our travels across Mexico we have never felt unsafe traveling by bus.
