On the trails above Marienbrücke and Schloss Neuschwanstein in Germany
According to Wikipedia...
Neuschwanstein Castle (German: Schloss Neuschwanstein) is a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as a homage to Richard Wagner. Contrary to common belief, Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and extensive borrowing, not with Bavarian public funds.
The palace was intended as a personal refuge for the reclusive king, but it was opened to the paying public immediately after his death in 1886. Since then over 60 million people have visited Neuschwanstein Castle. More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with up to 6,000 per day in the summer. The palace has appeared prominently in several movies and was the inspiration for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle and later, similar structures.
Before his mysterious death in 1886, Ludwig had the first, wooden Marienbrücke over the Pöllat Gorge replaced by a steel construction.

June 29, 2012: We hiked down from Mary's Bridge to the valley below. Here's a short video of the harrowing trail.

walk to the Gorge from Neuschwanstein Castle
This was my terrifying walk down on the catwalk when descending down from Neuschwanstein Castle. It was raining on and off so the entire metal thing was slippery...I even slipped at the end. :-)
Hiking to Neuschwanstein
Summer of 07 our family was in Germany, and with friends (the Kindler family) hiked up the Poellatschlucht (Poellat Ravine) to the Neuschwanstein Castle, of King Ludwig and Disney fame. Great hike, great friends.
Paragliding Over Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany
If you're looking for a bit of adventure while traveling the romantic road in Germany why not try paragliding over Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany? I've had paragliding on my bucket list for years now, but I wanted to find the perfect location before committing. When I discovered we could paraglide from the Tegelberg Mountain range in the Alps and glide over Neuschwanstein Castle I was hooked. David and Denis at Fly Royal did an amazing job and we had so much fun! This was definitely a highlight of our Romantic Road journey and I can't recommend it enough. Have you paraglide before? If so, leave a comment below and tell me about it!
